[In the Name of ALLAH, the
ENTIRELY MERCIFUL, the ESPECIALLY MERCIFUL]
The Farewell Sermon (Arabic: خطبة الوداع,
Khutbatu l-Wada), also known as the (Final and Seal of the Prophets (P.B.U.T))
Prophet Muhammad [S.A.W.S]'s Final Sermon or the Last Sermon, was delivered on
10th of Dhu al-Hijjah, Friday, in the Uranah valley of Mount Arafat
(in Mecca, at the end of his final Pilgrimage).
After praising,
and thanking ALLAH [S.W.T], he said:
“O People,
lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I
shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you
very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present today.
O People,
just as you regard this Month (Dhu al-Hijjah), this Day (Day
of Nahr, Friday), and this City (Mecca) as
Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a Sacred
trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt
no-one, so that no-one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed
meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds.
ALLAH has
forbidden you to take usury (interest),
therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital,
however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. ALLAH
has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to
‘Abbas ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib (Prophet [S.A.W.S]'s uncle (R.A)) shall
henceforth be waived.
Beware
of shayṭan (satan/devil),
for the safety of your religion. he has lost all hope that he will ever
be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in
small things.
O People, it
is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women (wife),
but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken
them as your wives Only under ALLAH's trust and with HIS permission. If
they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and
clothed in kindness. Do treat your women (wife) well and
be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers.
And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you
do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People, listen
to me in earnest, Worship ALLAH, says your five daily Prayers (Salah),
Fast during the month of Ramadan (Saum), and give your wealth in Zakat (Charity).
Perform Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca) if you can afford to.
All
mankind is from Adam and Hawwa (Eve) (P.B.U.T), an Arab has no
superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an
Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any
superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every
Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one
brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a
fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore,
do injustice to yourselves.
Remember, one
Day you will appear before ALLAH and answer your deeds. So
beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O People, no
Prophet or Apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason
well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave
behind me two things, The Qur'an (Revelation from ALLAH
[S.W.T]) and my Sunnah (the life style and the behavioral
mode of the Prophet [S.A.W.S]’s) and if you follow these you will never
go astray.
All those
who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again;
and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me
directly.
Be my
witness, O ALLAH, that I have Conveyed YOUR Message to YOUR people”.
As part of this
sermon, the Prophet [S.A.W.S] recited them a Revelation from ALLAH [S.W.T]
which he had just received:
"This day those who disbelieve have despaired of
[defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear ME. This day I have
perfected for you your religion and completed MY favor upon you and have
approved for you Islam as religion"
Toward the end
of his sermon, the Prophet [S.A.W.S] asked “O people, have I faithfully
delivered unto you my Message?"
A powerful
murmur of assent “O ALLAH, yes!” arose from thousands of pilgrims and
the vibrant words “Allahumma na’m” rolled like thunder throughout the
valley.
The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
raised his forefinger and said: “Be my witness O ALLAH, that I have
Conveyed YOUR Message to YOUR people.”

Various Contents Of 'The Farewell Sermon'
Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 43:
Narrated 'Umar
bin Al-Khattab (R.A):
Once a Jew said to me, "O the chief of
believers! There is a verse in your Holy Book, which is read by all of you
(Muslims), and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken that day (on
which it was revealed as a day of celebration." 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (R.A)
asked, "Which is that verse?" The Jew replied, "This day I have
perfected your religion for you, completed MY favor upon you, and have chosen
for you Islam as your religion." (5:3) 'Umar (R.A) replied, "No
doubt, we know when and where this verse was revealed to the Prophet [S.A.W.S].
It was Friday and the Prophet [S.A.W.S] was standing at 'Arafat (i.e. the Day
of Hajj)"
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 15: The Two Festivals (Eids), Number 75:
Narrated
Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] delivered the Khutba
after offering the prayer on the Day of Nahr and said, "Whoever offers the
prayer like us and slaughters like us then his Nusuk (sacrifice) will be
accepted by ALLAH [S.W.T]. And whoever slaughters his sacrifice before the 'Id
prayer then he has not done the sacrifice." Abi Burda bin Niyar (R.A), the
uncle of Al-Bara' (R.A) said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! I have
slaughtered my sheep before the 'Id prayer and I thought today as a day of
eating and drinking (not alcoholic drinks), and I liked that my sheep should be
the first to be slaughtered in my house. So slaughtered my sheep and took my
food before coming for the prayer." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "The
sheep which you have slaughtered is just mutton (not a Nusuk)." He (Abu
Burda (R.A)) said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! I have a young
she-goat which is dearer to me than two sheep. Will that be sufficient as a
Nusuk on my behalf? "The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Yes, it will be
sufficient for you but it will not be sufficient (as a Nusuk) for anyone else
after you."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 26: Pilgrimage (Hajj), Number 792:
Narrated
'Abdullah bin 'Amr (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] stopped (for
a while near the Jimar at Mina) during his last Hajj and the people started
asking him questions. A man said, "Ignorantly I got my head shaved before
slaughtering." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] replied, "Slaughter (now) and
there is no harm in it." Another man said, "Unknowingly I slaughtered
the Hadi before doing the Rami." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Do Rami
now and there is no harm in it." So, on that day, when the Prophet
[S.A.W.S] was asked about anything (about the ceremonies of Hajj) done before
or after (its stated time) his reply was, "Do it (now) and there is no
harm."

Ibn Abbas (R.A) said: "ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S] delivered a sermon on the Day of Nahr, and said, 'O people!
(Tell me) what is the day today?' The people replied, 'It is the Forbidden
(Sacred) day.' He asked again, 'What town is this?' They replied, 'It is the Forbidden
(Sacred) Town.' He asked, 'Which month is this?' They replied, 'It is the Forbidden
(Sacred) Month.' He said, 'No doubt! Your blood, your properties, and your
honor are Sacred to one another like the Sanctity of this Day of yours, in this
(Sacred) Town (Mecca) of yours, in this Month of yours.' The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
repeated his statement again and again. After that he raised his head and said,
'O ALLAH! Haven't I conveyed (YOUR Message) to them'. Haven't I conveyed YOUR
Message to them?'" Ibn Abbas (R.A) added, "By HIM in WHOSE Hand my
soul is, the following was his will (Prophet [S.A.W.S]'s will) to his
followers:--It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey this
information to those who are absent. Beware don't renegade (as) disbelievers
(turn into infidels) after me, striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one
another.'"

Narrated Abu
Bakr (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] delivered to us a sermon
on the Day of Nahr. He said, "Do you know what is the day today?" We
said, "ALLAH and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S] know better." He remained
silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said,
"Isn't it the Day of Nahr?" We said, "It is." He further
asked, "Which month is this?" We said, "ALLAH and HIS Apostle
[S.A.W.S] know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might
give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the Month of
Dhul-Hijja?" We replied: "Yes! It is." He further asked,
"What town is this?" We replied, "ALLAH and HIS Apostle
[S.A.W.S] know it better." He remained silent till we thought that he
might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the Forbidden (Sacred)
Town (of Mecca)?" We said, "Yes. It is." He said, "No
doubt, your blood and your properties are Sacred to one another like the Sanctity
of this Day of yours, in this Month of yours, in this Town of yours, till the Day
you meet your LORD. No doubt! Haven't I Conveyed ALLAH’s Message to you? They
said, "Yes." He said, "O ALLAH! Be Witness. So it is incumbent
upon those who are present to convey it (this information) to those who are
absent because the informed one might comprehend it (what I have said) better
than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade
(as) disbelievers after me by striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one
another."

[S.A.W.S] added, "No doubt, ALLAH made your blood, your properties, and
your honor Sacred to one another like the Sanctity of this Day of yours in this
Month of yours in this Town of yours." Narrated Ibn 'Umar (R.A): On the
Day of Nahr (10th of Dhul-Hijjah), the Prophet [S.A.W.S] stood in between the
Jamrat during his Hajj which he performed (as in the previous Hadith) and said,
"This is the greatest Day (i.e. 10th of Dhul-Hijjah)." The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] started saying repeatedly, "O ALLAH! Be Witness (I have Conveyed
YOUR Message)." He then bade the people farewell. The people said,
"This is Hajjat-al-Wada)."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 5, Book 59: Military Expeditions led by the Prophet [S.A.W.S],
Number 685:
Narrated Ibn
Umar (R.A):
We were talking about Hajjat-ul-Wada, while
the Prophet [S.A.W.S] was amongst us. We did not know what Hajjat-ul-Wada'
signified. The Prophet [S.A.W.S] Praised ALLAH [S.W.T] and then mentioned Al-masih
Ad-dajjal and described him extensively, saying, "ALLAH [S.W.T] did not
send any Prophet (P.B.U.T) but that Prophet (P.B.U.T) warned his nation of Al-masih
Ad-dajjal. Noah (P.B.U.H) and the Prophets (P.B.U.T) following him warned (their
people) of him. He will appear amongst you (O Muhammad [S.A.W.S]'s followers),
and if it happens that some of his qualities may be hidden from you, but your
LORD's State is clear to you and not hidden from you. The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
said it thrice. Verily, your LORD is not blind in one eye, while he (i.e.
Ad-dajjal) is blind in the right eye, which looks like a grape bulging out (of
its cluster). No doubt! ALLAH [S.W.T] has made your blood and your properties
sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this town of
yours, in this month of yours." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] added: No doubt!
Haven't I conveyed ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Message to you?" They replied,
"Yes," The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said thrice, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]! Be
witness for it." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] added, "Woe to you!" (or
said), "May ALLAH [S.W.T] be merciful to you! Do not become infidels after
me (i.e. my death) by cutting the necks (throats) of one another."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 78: Oaths and Vows, Number 658:
Narrated
'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-As (R.A):
While the Prophet [S.A.W.S] was delivering a
sermon on the Day of Nahr (i.e. 10th Dhul-Hijja Day of slaughtering the
sacrifice), a man got up saying, "I thought, O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S], such-and-such a thing was to be done before such-and-such a
thing." Another man got up, saying, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S]! As regards these three (acts of Hajj), thought so-and-so." The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Do, and there is no harm," concerning all
those matters on that day. And so, on that day, whatever question he was asked,
he said, "Do it, do it, and there is no harm therein."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 78: Oaths and Vows, Number 666:
Narrated Jundub
(R.A):
I witnessed the Prophet [S.A.W.S] offering the
'Id prayer (and after finishing it) he delivered a sermon and said,
"Whoever has slaughtered his sacrifice (before the prayer) should make up
for it (i.e. slaughter another animal) and whoever has not slaughtered his
sacrifice yet, should slaughter it by mentioning ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Name over
it."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 93: Oneness, Uniqueness of ALLAH [S.W.T] (Tawheed),
Number 539:
Narrated Abu
Bakr (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Time has
come back to its original state which it had when ALLAH [S.W.T] Created the
Heavens and the Earth, the year is twelve months, of which four are sacred;
(and out of these four) three are in succession, namely, Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul-Hijja
and Muharram, and (the fourth one) Rajab Mudar which is between Jumad (Ath-Tham)
and Sha'ban." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] then asked us, "Which month is
this?" We said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S] know (it)
better." He kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it by another
name. Then he said, "Isn't it Dhul-Hijja?" We said, "Yes."
He asked "What town is this?" We said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS
Apostle [S.A.W.S] know (it) better.' Then he kept quiet so long that we thought
he might call it by another name. He then said, "Isn't it the (forbidden) Town
(Mecca)?" We said, "Yes." He asked, "What is the day
today?" We said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S] know (it)
better. Then he kept quiet so long that we thought that he might call it by
another name. Then he said, "Isn't it the Day of An-Nahr (slaughtering of
sacrifices)?" We said, "Yes." Then he said, "Your blood
(lives), your properties," (the sub narrator Muhammad (R.A), said: I think
he also said): "..and your honor) are as sacred to one another like the
sanctity of this Day of yours, in this Town of yours, in this Month of yours.
You shall meet your LORD and HE will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Don't go
astray after me by striking the necks of one another. Lo! It is incumbent upon
those who are present to inform it to those who are absent for perhaps the informed
one might comprehend it (understand it) better than some of the present
audience." Whenever the sub-narrator Muhammad (R.A) mentioned that
statement, he would say, "The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said the truth.") And
then the Prophet [S.A.W.S] added, "No doubt! Haven't I conveyed ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Message to you! No doubt! Haven't I conveyed ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Message
to you?"
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 30, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0124:
It is narrated
on the authority of Jarir b. 'Abdullah (R.A):
That the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
asked him on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage to make the people silent
and then said: Do not return to unbelief after me by striking the necks of one
another.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 17, Book 7: Pilgrimage (Kitab Al-Hajj), Number 2803:
Ja’far b.
Muhammad (R.A) reported on the authority of his father:
We went to Jabir b. Abdullah (R.A) and he
began inquiring about the people (who had gone to see him) till it was my turn.
I said: I am Muhammad b. ‘Ali b. Husain (R.A). He placed his hand upon my head
and opened my upper button and then the lower one and then placed his palm on
my chest (in order to bless me), and I was, during those days, a young boy, and
he said: You are welcome, my nephew. Ask whatever you want to ask. And I asked
him but as he was blind (he could not respond to me immediately), and the time
for prayer came. He stood up covering himself in his mantle. And whenever he
placed its ends upon his shoulders they slipped down on account of being short
(in size). Another mantle was, however, lying on the clothes rack near by. And
he led us in the prayer. I said to him: Tell me about the Hajj of ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]. And he pointed with his hand nine, and then
stated: The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] stayed in (Medina) for nine
years but did not perform Hajj, then he made a public announcement in the tenth
year to the effect that ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] was about to
perform the Hajj. A large number of persons came to Medina and all of them were
anxious to follow the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] and do according to
his doing. We set out with him till we reached Dhu’l Hulaifa. Asma’ (R.A)
daughter of Umais gave birth to Muhammad b. Abu Bakr (R.A). She sent message to
the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] asking him: What should I do? He (the
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Take a bath, bandage your private parts and put
on Ihram. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] then prayed in the Mosque
and then mounted al-Qaswa (his she-camel) and it stood erect with him on its
back at al-Baida’. And I saw as far as I could see in front of me but riders
and pedestrians, and also on my right and on my left and behind me like this.
And the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] was prominent among us and the
(revelation) of The Holy Qur'an was descending upon him. And it is he who knows
(its true) significance. And whatever he did, we also did that. He pronounced
the Oneness of ALLAH [S.W.T] (saying): "Labbaik, O ALLAH, Labbaik,
Labbaik. THOU hast no partner, Praise and Grace is THINE and the Sovereignty
too; THOU hast no partner." And the people also pronounced this Talbiya
which they pronounce (today). The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] did not
reject anything out of it. But the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] adhered
to his own Talbiya. Jabir (R.A) said: We did not have any other intention but
that of Hajj only, being unaware of the Umra (at that season), but when we came
with him to the House, he touched the pillar and (made seven circuits) running
three of them and walking four. And then going to the Station of Ibrahim
(P.B.U.H), he recited: "And adopt the Station of Ibrahim as a place of
prayer." And this Station was between him and the House. My father said
(and I do not know whether he had made a mention of it but that was from ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] that he recited in two rak’ahs: "Say: HE is
ALLAH One," and Say: "Say: O unbelievers." He then returned to
the pillar (Hajar Aswad) and kissed it. He then went out of the gate to
al-Safa’ and as he reached near it he recited: "Al-Safa’ and al-Marwa are
among the signs appointed by ALLAH," (adding:) I begin with what ALLAH
[S.W.T] (has commanded me) to begin. He first mounted al-Safa’ till he saw the
House, and facing Qibla he declared the Oneness of ALLAH [S.W.T] and Glorified
HIM, and said: "There is no god but ALLAH, ONE, there is no partner with
HIM. HIS is the Sovereignty, to HIM Praise is due, and HE is Powerful over
everything. There is no god but ALLAH Alone, WHO fulfilled HIS promise, helped
HIS servant and routed the confederates alone." He then made supplication
in the course of that saying such words three times. He then descended and
walked towards al-Marwa, and when his feet came down in the bottom of the
valley, he ran, and when he began to ascend he walked till he reached al-Marwa.
There he did as he had done at al-Safa’. And when it was his last running at
al-Marwa he said: If I had known beforehand what I have come to know
afterwards, I would not have brought sacrificial animals and would have
performed an ‘Umra. So, he who among you has not the sacrificial animals with
him should put off Ihram and treat it as an Umra. Suraqa b. Malik b. Ju’sham
(R.A) got up and said: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], does it apply to
the present year, or does it apply forever? Thereupon the Messenger of ALLAH
[S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] intertwined the fingers (of one hand) into another and said
twice: The ‘Umra has become incorporated in the Hajj (adding): "No, but for
ever and ever." ‘Ali (R.A) came from the Yemen with the sacrificial
animals for the Prophet [S.A.W.S] and found Fatima (R.A) to be one among those
who had put off Ihram and had put on dyed clothes and had applied antimony. He
(Hadrat ‘Ali (R.A)) showed disapproval to it, whereupon she said: My father has
commanded me to do this. He (the narrator) said: That ‘Ali (R.A) used to say in
Iraq: I went to the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] showing annoyance at
Fatima (R.A) for what she had done, and asked the (verdict) of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] regarding what she had narrated from him, and told him that
I was angry with her, whereupon he said: She has told the truth, she has told
the truth. (The Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S] then asked ‘Ali (R.A)): What did you say
when you undertook to go for Hajj? I (‘Ali (R.A)) said: O ALLAH, I am putting
on Ihram for the same purpose as THY Messenger [S.A.W.S] has put it on. He
said: I have with me sacrificial animals, so do not put off the Ihram. He
(Jabir (R.A)) said: The total number of those sacrificial animals brought by
‘Ali (R.A) from the Yemen and of those brought by the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] was one hundred. Then all the people except the Apostle of ALLAH
[S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] and those who had with them sacrificial animals, put off
Ihram, and got their hair clipped; when it was the day of Tarwiya (8th of
Dhu’l-Hijja) they went to Mina and put on the Ihram for Hajj and the Messenger
of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] rode and led the noon, afternoon, sunset ‘Isha’ and
dawn prayers. He then waited a little till the sun rose, and commanded that a
tent of hair should be pitched at Namira. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] then set out and the Quraish did not doubt that he would halt at
al-Mash’ar al-Haram (the sacred site) as the Quraish used to do in the
pre-Islamic period. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], however, passed
on till he came to ‘Arafa and he found that the tent had been pitched for him
at Namira. There he got down till the sun had passed the meridian; he commanded
that al-Qaswa should be brought and saddled for him. Then he came to the bottom
of the valley, and addressed the people saying: Verily your blood, your
property are as Sacred and inviolable as the Sacredness of this Day of yours,
in this Month of yours, in this Town of yours. Behold! Everything pertaining to
the Days of Ignorance is under my feet completely abolished. Abolished are also
the blood-revenges of the Days of Ignorance. The first claim of ours on blood revenge
which I abolish is that of the son of Rabi’a b. al-Harith, who was nursed among
the tribe of Sa’d and killed by Hudhail. And the usury of pre-Islamic period is
abolished, and the first of our usury I abolish is that of ‘Abbas b. ‘Abd
al-Muttalib (R.A), for it is all abolished. Fear ALLAH [S.W.T] concerning
women! Verily you have taken them on the security of ALLAH [S.W.T], and
intercourse with them has been made lawful unto you by words of ALLAH [S.W.T].
You too have right over them, and that they should not allow anyone to sit on
your bed whom you do not like. But if they do that, you can chastise them but
not severely. Their rights upon you are that you should provide them with food
and clothing in a fitting manner. I have left among you the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T],
and if you hold fast to it, you would never go astray. And you would be asked
about me (on the Day of Resurrection), (now tell me) what would you say? They
(the audience) said: We will bear witness that you have Conveyed (the Message),
discharged (the ministry of Prophethood) and given wise (sincere) counsel. He
(the narrator) said: He (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) then raised his forefinger
towards the sky and pointing it at the people (said): "O ALLAH, be
witness. O ALLAH, be witness," saying it thrice. (Bilal (R.A) then)
pronounced Adhan and later on Iqama and he (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) led the
noon prayer. He (Bilal (R.A)) then uttered Iqama and he (the Holy Prophet
[S.A.W.S]) led the afternoon prayer and he observed no other prayer in between
the two. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] then mounted his camel and
came to the place of stay, making his she-camel al-Qaswa, turn towards the side
where there we are rocks, having the path taken by those who went on foot in
front of him, and faced the Qibla. He kept standing there till the sun set, and
the yellow light had somewhat gone, and the disc of the sun had disappeared. He
made Usama (R.A) sit behind him, and he pulled the nose-string of Qaswa so
forcefully that its head touched the saddle (in order to keep her under perfect
control), and he pointed out to the people with his right hand to be moderate
(in speed), and whenever he happened to pass over an elevated tract of sand, he
slightly loosened it (the nose-string of his camel) till she climbed up and
this is how he reached al-Muzdalifa. There he led the evening and ‘Isha prayers
with one Adhan and two Iqamas and did not glorify (ALLAH) in between them (i.e.
he did not observe supererogatory rak’ahs between Maghrib and ‘Isha’ prayers).
The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] then lay down till dawn and offered
the dawn prayer with an Adhan and Iqama when the morning light was clear. He
again mounted al-Qaswa, and when he came to al-Mash’ar al-Haram, he faced
towards Qibla, supplicated HIM, Glorified HIM, and pronounced HIS Uniqueness
(La ilaha illa ALLAH) and Oneness, and kept standing till the daylight was very
clear. He then went quickly before the sun rose, and seated behind him was
al-Fadl b. ‘Abbas (R.A) and he was a man having beautiful hair and fair
complexion and handsome face. As the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] was
moving on, there was also going a group of women (side by side with them).
Al-Fadl (R.A) began to look at them. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
placed his hand on the face of Fadl (R.A) who then turned his face to the other
side, and began to see, and the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] turned his
hand to the other side and placed it on the face of al-Fadl (R.A). He again
turned his face to the other side till he came to the bottom of Muhassir. He
urged her (al-Qaswa) a little, and, following the middle road, which comes out
at the greatest jamra, he came to the jamral which is near the tree. At this he
threw seven small pebbles, saying ALLAH-o-Akbar while throwing every one of
them in a manner in which the small pebbles are thrown (with the help of
fingers) and this he did in the bottom of the valley. He then went to the place
of sacrifice, and sacrificed sixty-three (camels) with his own hand. Then he
gave the remaining number to ‘Ali (R.A) who sacrificed them, and he shared him
in his sacrifice. He then commanded that a piece of flesh from each animal
sacrificed should be put in a pot, and when it was cooked, both of them (the
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S] and Hadrat ‘Ali (R.A)) took some meat out of it and
drank its soup. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] again rode and came to
the House, and offered the Zuhr prayer at Mecca. He came to the tribe of Abd
al-Muttalib, who were supplying water at Zamzam, and said: Draw water. O Bani
‘Abd al-Muttalib; were it not that people would usurp this right of supplying
water from you, I would have drawn it along with you. So they handed him a
basket and he drank from it.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 17, Book 7: Pilgrimage (Kitab Al-Hajj), Book 7, Number 2805:
Jabir (R.A)
reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
I have sacrificed (the animals) here, and the whole of Mina is a place for
sacrifice; so sacrifice your animals at your places. I have stayed here (near
these rocks), and the whole of Arafat is a place for stay. And I have stayed
here (at Muzdalifa near Mash’ar al-Haram and the whole of Muzdalifa) is a place
for stay (i.e. one is permitted to spend night in any part of it, as one
likes).
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 17, Book 7: Pilgrimage (Kitab Al-Hajj), Book 7, Number 2806:
Jabir b.
Abdullah (R.A) reported:
That when ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
proceeded to Mecca, he came to it (the Black Stone) he kissed it and moved to
his right and moved quickly in three circuits, and walked in four circuits.
Sahih Muslim: Chapter 21, Book 7:
Pilgrimage, Number 2832:
Abdullah b. 'Umar (R.A) reported:
ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] observed Tamattu' in Hajjat-ul-Wada'. He first
put on Ihram for 'Umra and then for Hajj and then offered animal sacrifice. So
he drove the sacrificial animals with him from Dhu'l-Hulaifa. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] commenced Ihram of Umra and thus pronounced Talbiya for
'Umra and then (put on Ihram for Hajj) and pronounced Talbiya for Hajj. And the
people performed Tamattu' in the company of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S]. They put on Ihram for Umra (first) and then for Hajj. Some of them
had sacrificial animals which they had brought with them, whereas some of them
had none to sacrifice. So when ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] came to
Mecca, he said to the people: He who amongst you has brought sacrificial
animals along with him must not treat as lawful anything which has become
unlawful for him till he has completed the Hajj; and he, who amongst you has
not brought the sacrificial animals should circumambulate the House, and run
between al-Safa' and al-Marwa and clip (his hair) and put off the Ihram, and
then again put on the Ihram for Hajj and offer sacrifice of animals. But he who
does not find the sacrificial animal, he should observe fast for three days
during the Hajj and for seven days when he returns to his family. ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] circumambulated (the House) when he came to Mecca:
he first kissed the corner (of the Ka'ba containing the Black Stone), then ran
in three circuits out of seven and walked in four circuits. And then when he
had finished the circumambulation of the House he observed two rak'ahs of
prayer at the Station (of Ibrahim (P.B.U.H)), and then pronounced Salaam (for
concluding the rak'ahs), and departed and came to al-Safa' and ran seven times
between al-Safa' and al-Marwa. After that he did not treat anything as lawful
which had become unlawful till he had completed his Hajj and sacrificed his
animal on the day of sacrifice (10th of Dhu'l-Hijja). and then went back
quickly (to Mecca) and performed circumambulation of the House (known as tawaf
ifada) after which all that was unlawful for him became lawful; and those who
had brought the sacrificial animals along with them did as ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] had done. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of
'A'isha (R.A). The wife of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], concerning his
Tamattu' of Hajj and 'Umra and performing of Tamattu' by people in his company.
Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 7:
Narrated Ibn
'Umar (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said: Islam
is based on (the following) five (principles):
1. To testify
that none has the right to be Worshiped but ALLAH [S.W.T] and Muhammad
[S.A.W.S] is ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle.
2. To offer the
(compulsory congregational) Prayers dutifully and perfectly.
3. To pay Zakat
(i.e. obligatory charity).
4. To perform
Hajj (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca).
5. To observe Fast
during the month of Ramadan.

Narrated
'Abdullah bin 'Amr (R.A):
A man asked the Prophet [S.A.W.S], "What

Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 20:
Narrated Anas
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Whoever
possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith:
1. The one to
whom ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S) become dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a
person and he loves him Only for ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Sake.
3. Who hates to
revert to disbelief (atheism) after ALLAH [S.W.T] has brought (saved) him out
from it, as he hates to be thrown in Fire."

Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 38:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Religion is
very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to
continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to
perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain
strength by Worshiping in the mornings, the nights."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 45:
Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"(A believer) who accompanies the funeral procession of a Muslim out of
sincere faith and hoping to attain ALLAH [S.W.T]'s reward and remains with it
till the funeral prayer is offered and the burial ceremonies are over, he will
return with a reward of two Qirats. Each Qirat is like the size of the (Mount)
Uhud. He who offers the funeral prayer only and returns before the burial, will
return with the reward of one Qirat only."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 47:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
One day while the Prophet [S.A.W.S] was
sitting in the company of some people, (The Angel) Gabriel (P.B.U.H) came and
asked, "What is faith?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] replied,
'Faith is to believe in ALLAH [S.W.T], HIS Angels (P.B.U.T), (the) meeting with
HIM, HIS Apostles (P.B.U.T), and to believe in Resurrection." Then he
further asked, "What is Islam?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]
replied, "To Worship ALLAH [S.W.T] Alone and none else, to offer prayers
perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the
month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan
(perfection)?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] replied, "To Worship
ALLAH [S.W.T] as if you see HIM, and if you cannot achieve this state of
devotion then you must consider that HE is looking at you." Then he
further asked, "When will the Hour be established?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S] replied, "The answerer has no better knowledge than the
questioner. But I will inform you about its portents.
1. When a slave
(lady) gives birth to her master.
2. When the
shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the
construction of higher buildings. And the Hour is one of five things which
nobody knows except ALLAH [S.W.T]. The Prophet [S.A.W.S] then recited:
"Verily, with ALLAH (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour--." (31. 34)
Then that man (Gabriel (P.B.U.H)) left and the Prophet [S.A.W.S] asked his
companions (R.A) to call him back, but they could not see him. Then the Prophet
[S.A.W.S] said, "That was Gabriel (P.B.U.H) who came to teach the people
their religion." Abu 'Abdullah (R.A) said: He (the Prophet [S.A.W.S])
considered all that as a part of faith.
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 3: Knowledge, Number 97:
Narrated Abu
Burda (R.A)'s father:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said
"Three persons will have a double reward:
1. A Person from
the people of the Scriptures who believed in his Prophet (Jesus or Moses
(P.B.U.T)) and then believed in the Prophet Muhammad [S.A.W.S] (i.e. has
embraced Islam).
2. A slave who
discharges his duties to ALLAH [S.W.T] and his master.
3. A master of a
woman-slave who teaches her good manners and educates her in the best possible
way (the religion) and manumits her and then marries her."

Chapter 28, Book 6: Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm), Number 2566:
Abu Huraira
(R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
ALLAH [S.W.T] the EXALTED and MAJESTIC said: Every act of the son of Adam
(P.B.U.H) is for him, except fasting. It is (exclusively) meant for ME and I
(Alone) will reward it. Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting on
a day, he should neither indulge in obscene language, nor raise the voice; or
if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him he should say: I am a person
fasting. By HIM, in WHOSE Hand is the life of Muhammad [S.A.W.S], the breath of
the observer of fast is sweeter to ALLAH [S.W.T] on the Day of Judgment than
the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts has two (occasions) of joy, one when
he breaks the fast he is glad with the breaking of (the fast) and one when he
meets his LORD he is glad with his fast.
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 12: Characteristics of Prayer, Number 817:
Narrated Abu
Said Al-Khudri (R.A):

Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then
goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had
sacrificed a camel (in ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Cause); and whoever goes in the second
hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour,
then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth
hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth
hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e.
starts delivering the Khutba), the Angels (P.B.U.T) present themselves to
listen to the Khutba."

"Not even Jihad?" He replied, "Not even Jihad, except that of a
man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Sake) and does not return with any of those things."
Sahih
Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23: Funerals (Al-Janaa'iz), Number 432:
Narrated Ibn
Abbas (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "ALLAH
[S.W.T] has made Mecca a Sanctuary (Sacred Place) and it was a Sanctuary before
me and will be so after me. It was made legal for me (to fight in it) for a few
hours of the day. None is allowed to uproot its thorny shrubs or to cut its
trees or to chase its game or to pick up its fallen things except by a person
who announces it publicly." On that Al-Abbas (R.A) said (to the Prophet
[S.A.W.S]), "Except Al-Idhkhir for our goldsmiths and for our
graves." And so the Prophet [S.A.W.S] added, "Except Al-Idhkhir."
And Abu Huraira (R.A) narrated that the Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Except
Al-Idhkhir for our graves and houses." And Ibn Abbas (R.A) said, "For
their goldsmiths and houses."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 26: Pilgrimage (Hajj), Number 675:
Narrated Zaid
bin Aslam (R.A) from his father who said:
"Umar bin Al-Khattab (R.A) addressed the
Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'By ALLAH [S.W.T]! I know that you are a stone and
can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet [S.A.W.S] touching
(and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.' Then he kissed
it and said, 'There is no reason for us to do Ramal (in Tawaf) except that we
wanted to show off before the pagans, and now ALLAH [S.W.T] has destroyed
them.' 'Umar (R.A) added, '(Nevertheless), the Prophet [S.A.W.S] did that and
we do not want to leave it (i.e. Ramal).'

as a furnace removes the impurities of iron.
Sahih
Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 30: Virtues of Medina, Number 105:
Narrated Anas
bin Malik (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "There will
be no town which Ad-dajjal will not enter except Mecca and Medina, and there
will be no entrance (road) (of both Mecca and Medina) but the Angels (P.B.U.T)
will be standing in rows guarding it against him, and then Medina will shake
with its inhabitants thrice (i.e. three earth-quakes will take place) and ALLAH
[S.W.T] will expel all the nonbelievers and the hypocrites from it."
Sahih
Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 30: Virtues of Medina, Number 109:
Narrated Anas
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "O ALLAH
[S.W.T]! Bestow on Medina twice the blessings YOU bestowed on Mecca."
Sahih
Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 31: Fasting, Number 215:

Said Al-Khudri (R.A) (who fought in twelve Ghazawat in the company of the
Prophet [S.A.W.S]):
I heard four things from the Prophet [S.A.W.S]
and they won my admiration. He said:
1. "No lady
should travel on a journey of two days except with her husband or a
Dhi-Mahram";
2. "No
fasting is permissible on the two days of Id-ul-Fitr and 'Id-ul-Adha";
3. "No
prayer (may be offered) after the morning compulsory prayer until the sun
rises; and no prayer after the 'Asr prayer till the sun sets";
4. "One
should travel only for visiting three Masjid (Mosques): Masjid-ul-Haram
(Mecca), Masjid-ul-Aqsa (Jerusalem), and this (my) Mosque (at Medina)".

who can afford to marry should marry, because it will help him refrain from
looking at other women, and save his private parts from looking at other women,
and save his private parts from committing illegal sexual relation; and he who
cannot afford to marry is advised to fast, as fasting will diminish his sexual
power."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 40: Distribution of Water, Number 547:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"There are three persons whom ALLAH [S.W.T] will not look at on the Day of
Resurrection, nor will he purify them and theirs shall be a severe punishment.
They are:
1. A man
possessed superfluous water, on a way and he withheld it from travelers.
2. A man who
gave a pledge of allegiance to a ruler and he gave it only for worldly
benefits. If the ruler gives him something he gets satisfied, and if the ruler
withholds something from him, he gets dissatisfied.
3. And man
displayed his goods for sale after the 'Asr prayer and he said, 'By ALLAH
[S.W.T], except WHOM None has the right to be Worshiped, I have been given so
much for my goods,' and somebody believes him (and buys them)." The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] then recited: "Verily! Those who purchase a little gain
at the cost of ALLAH's Covenant and their oaths." (3.77)

Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 43: Oppressions, Number 622:
Narrated
'Abdullah bin Umar (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him,
nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his
brother, ALLAH [S.W.T] will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim)
brother out of a discomfort, ALLAH [S.W.T] will bring him out of the
discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, ALLAH
[S.W.T] will screen him on the Day of Resurrection."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 43: Oppressions, Number 624:
Narrated Anas
(R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one.
People asked, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! It is all right to
help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an
oppressor?" The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "By preventing him from
oppressing others."

Apostle [S.A.W.S]! What are they? "He said, "To join others in Worship
along with ALLAH [S.W.T], to practice sorcery, to kill the life which ALLAH
[S.W.T] has forbidden except for a just cause, (according to Islamic law), to
eat up Riba (usury), to eat up an orphan's wealth, to give back to the enemy
and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting, and to accuse chaste women,
who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"If a husband calls his wife to his bed (i.e. to have sexual relation) and
she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the Angels (P.B.U.T) will curse
her till morning."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54: Beginning of Creation, Number 478:
Narrated Abu
Said Al-Khudri (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "The people
of Paradise will look at the dwellers of the lofty mansions (i.e. a superior
place in Paradise) in the same way as one looks at a brilliant star far away in
the East or in the West on the horizon; all that is because of their superiority
over one another (in rewards)." On that the people said, "O ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! Are these lofty mansions for the Prophets
(P.B.U.T) which nobody else can reach? The Prophet [S.A.W.S] replied," No!
"By ALLAH [S.W.T] in WHOSE Hands my life is, these are for the men who
believed in ALLAH [S.W.T] and also believed in the Apostles (P.B.U.T)."
Sahih

you, on having sexual relation with his wife, says: 'O ALLAH! Protect me from
satan, and prevent satan from approaching the offspring you are going to give
me,' and if it happens that the lady conceives a child, satan will neither harm
it nor be given power over it."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55: Prophets (P.B.U.T), Number 548:

Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Treat women nicely, for a women is created from a rib, and the most
curved portion of the rib is its upper portion, so, if you should try to
straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain
crooked. So treat women nicely."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55: Prophets (P.B.U.T), Number 568:
Narrated Ibn
Abbas (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "You will be
gathered (on the Day of Judgment), bare-footed, naked and not
circumcised." He then recited:--'As WE began the first creation, WE, shall
repeat it: A Promise WE have undertaken: Truly WE shall do it.' (21.104) He
added, "The first to be dressed on the Day of Resurrection, will be
Abraham (P.B.U.H), and some of my companions will be taken towards the left
side (i.e. to the (Hell) Fire), and I will say: 'My companions! My companions!'
It will be said: 'They renegade from Islam after you left them.' Then I will
say as the Pious slave of ALLAH [S.W.T] (i.e. Jesus (P.B.U.H)) said: 'And I was
a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them. When YOU took me up YOU were
the WATCHER over them, And YOU are a Witness to all things. If YOU punish them.
They are YOUR slaves, and if YOU forgive them, Verily YOU, Only YOU are the ALL-MIGHTY,
the ALL-WISE." (5.120-121)

ALLASH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Both in this world and in the Hereafter, I am the nearest of all the
people to Jesus, the son of Mary (P.B.U.T). The Prophets (P.B.U.T) are paternal
brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one."

Narrated 'Umar
(R.A):
I heard the Prophet [S.A.W.S] saying, "Do
not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians praised the son of Mary
(P.B.U.T), for I am only a slave. So, call me the slave of ALLAH [S.W.T] and
HIS Apostle."
Sahih Bukhari:

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said

amongst you and he will judge people by the Law of the Qur’an and not by the
law of Gospel.

'Abdullah bin 'Amr (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Convey (my
teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence, and tell others the
stories of Bani Israel (which have been taught to you), for it is not sinful to
do so. And whoever tells a lie on me intentionally, will surely take his place
in the (Hell) Fire."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 56: Virtues and Merits of the Prophet [S.A.W.S] and His
Companions (R.A), Number 681:
Narrated 'Aisha
(R.A):
The people of Quraish worried about the lady
from Bani Makhzum who had committed theft. They asked, "Who will intercede
for her with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]?" Some said, "No one
dare to do so except Usama bin Zaid (R.A) the beloved one to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]." When Usama (R.A) spoke about that to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, (to him), "Do
you try to intercede for somebody in a case connected with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Prescribed Punishments?" Then he got up and delivered a sermon saying,
"What destroyed the nations preceding you, was that if a noble amongst
them stole, they would forgive him, and if a poor person amongst them stole,
they would inflict ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Legal Punishment on him. By ALLAH [S.W.T],
if Fatima (R.A), the daughter of Muhammad [S.A.W.S] stole, I would cut off her
hand."

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "We are the
last (to come) but we will be the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, nations
were given the Book (i.e. Scripture) before us, and we were given the Holy Book
after them. This (i.e. Friday) is the day about which they differed. So the
next day (i.e. Saturday) was prescribed for the Jews and the day after it (i.e.
Sunday) for the Christians. It is incumbent on every Muslim to wash his head
and body on a Day (i.e. Friday) (at least) in every seven days."

ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"My similitude in comparison with the other Prophets (P.B.U.T) before me,
is that of a man who has built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a
place of one brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty,
but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I
am the last of the Prophets (P.B.U.T)."

really looking at my Sacred Fount now, and no doubt, I have been given the keys
of the treasures of the world. By ALLAH [S.W.T], I am not afraid that you will Worship
others along with ALLAH [S.W.T], but I am afraid that you will envy and fight
one another for worldly fortunes."

Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman (R.A):
The people used to ask ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] about good, but I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might
overtake me. Once I said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! We were in
ignorance and in evil and ALLAH [S.W.T] has bestowed upon us the present good;
will there by any evil after this good?" He said, "Yes." I
asked, "Will there be good after that evil?" He said, "Yes, but
it would be tainted with Dakhan (i.e. little evil)." I asked, "What
will its Dakhan be?" He said, "There will be some people who will
lead (people) according to principles other than my tradition. You will see
their actions and disapprove of them." I said, "Will there by any
evil after that good?" He said, "Yes, there will be some people who
will invite others to the doors of Hell, and whoever accepts their invitation
to it will be thrown in it (by them)." I said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]'s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]! Describe those people to us." He said, "They will
belong to us and speak our language" I asked, "What do you order me
to do if such a thing should take place in my life?" He said, "Adhere
to the group of Muslims and their Chief." I asked, "If there is
neither a group (of Muslims) nor a Chief (what shall I do)?" He said,
"Keep away from all those different sects, even if you had to bite (i.e.
eat) the root of a tree, till you meet ALLAH [S.W.T] while you are still in
that state."

Bukhari: Volume 5, Book 57: Companions (R.A) of the Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number

Narrated Abu
Said Al-Khudri (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] addressed
the people saying, "ALLAH [S.W.T] has given option to a slave to choose
this world or what is with HIM. The slave has chosen what is with ALLAH
[S.W.T]." Abu Bakr (R.A) wept, and we were astonished at his weeping
caused by what the Prophet [S.A.W.S] mentioned as to a slave (of ALLAH [S.W.T])
who had been offered a choice, (we learned later on) that ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S] himself was the person who was given the choice, and that Abu
Bakr (R.A) knew best of all of us. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] added,
"The person who has favored me most of all both with his company and
wealth, is Abu Bakr (R.A). If I were to take a Khalil other than my LORD, I
would have taken Abu Bakr (R.A) as such, but (what relates us) is the Islamic
brotherhood and friendliness. All the gates of the Mosque should be closed
except the gate of Abu Bakr (R.A)."

of them."

Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man
said, "Nothing, except that I love ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle
[S.A.W.S]." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "You will be with those whom
you love." We had never been so glad as we were on hearing that saying of
the Prophet [S.A.W.S] (i.e. "You will be with those whom you love.")
Therefore, I love the Prophet [S.A.W.S], Abu Bakr and 'Umar (R.A), and I hope
that I will be with them because of my love for them though my deeds are not
similar to theirs.

Al-Hasan bin 'Ali (R.A)." So Al-Hasan bin 'Ali (R.A) got up and started
walking with a necklace (of beads) around his neck. The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
stretched his hand out like this, and Al-Hasan (R.A) did the same. The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] embraced him and said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]! I love him, so please
love him and love those who love him." Since ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Your mother." The man further said,

"Choose one of your boys to serve me." So Abu Talha (R.A) took me (to
serve the Prophet [S.A.W.S]) by giving me a ride behind him (on his camel). So
I used to serve ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] whenever he stayed somewhere.
I used to hear him saying, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]! I seek refuge with YOU (ALLAH
[S.W.T]) from (worries) care and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from
miserliness and cowardice, from being heavily in debt and from being
overpowered by other men." I kept on serving him till he returned from
(the battle of) Khaibar. He then brought Safiya (R.A), the daughter of Huyay
whom he had got (from the booty). I saw him making a kind of cushion with a
cloak or a garment for her. He then let her ride behind him. When we reached a
place called As-Sahba', he prepared (a special meal called) Hais, and asked me
to invite the men who (came and) ate, and that was the marriage banquet given
on the consummation of his marriage to her. Then he proceeded till the mountain
of Uhud appeared, whereupon he said, "This mountain loves us and we love
it." When he approached Medina, he said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]! I make the
land between it's (i.e. Medina's) two mountains a sanctuary, as the Prophet
Abraham (P.B.U.H) made Mecca a sanctuary. O ALLAH [S.W.T]! Bless them (the
people of Medina) in their Mudd and the Sa' (units of measuring)."

comes nearer to ME, is what I have enjoined upon him; and MY slave keeps on
coming closer to ME through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds
besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing
with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand
with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks ME, I will
give him, and if he asks MY protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give
him MY Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the
soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him."

relieving?" He said, "A believer is relieved (by death) from the troubles

A woman came to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] and said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! Men (only)
benefit by your teachings, so please devote to us from (some of) your time, a
day on which we may come to you so that you may teach us of what ALLAH [S.W.T]
has taught you." ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, "Gather on
such-and-such a day at such-and-such a place." They gathered and ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] came to them and taught them of what ALLAH [S.W.T]
had taught him. He then said, "No woman among you who has lost her three
children (died) but that they will screen her from the Fire." A woman
among them said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! If she lost two
children?" She repeated her question twice, whereupon the Prophet
[S.A.W.S] said, "Even two, even two, even two!"

The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
observed: You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in

Chapter 35, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0142:
It is narrated
on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Umar (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
observed: O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I
saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady among them said: Why
is it, Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], that our folk is in bulk in Hell?
Upon this the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S] observed: You curse too much and are
ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common sense and
failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing the wisdom of the wise,
besides you. Upon this the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense
and with religion? He (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) observed: Your lack of
common sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of two women
is equal to one man, that is a proof of the lack of common sense, and you spend
some nights (and days) in which you do not offer prayer and in the month of
Ramadan (during the days) you do not observe fast, that is a failing in
religion. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Tahir (R.A)

he who killed himself with a thing in this world would be tormented with that

people. I heard these words of his: If any Muslim performs ablution well, then
stands and prays two rak'ahs setting about them with his heart as well as his
face, Paradise would be guaranteed to him. I said: What a fine thing is this!
And a narrator who was before me said: The first was better than even this.
When I cast a glance, I saw that it was 'Umar (R.A) who said: I see that you
have just come and observed: If anyone amongst you performs the ablution, and
then completes the ablution well and then says: I testify that there is no god
but ALLAH and that Muhammad [S.A.W.S] is the servant of ALLAH and HIS

ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Messenger [S.A.W.S] came to
the graveyard and said: Peace be upon you! The abode of the believing people
and we if ALLAH [S.W.T] so wills, are about to join you. I love to see my
brothers. They (the hearers) said: Aren’t we your brothers- Messenger of ALLAH
[S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]? He said: You are my companions (R.A), and our brothers are
those who have, so far, not come into the world. They said: ALLAH [S.W.T]'s
Messenger [S.A.W.S], how would you recognize those persons of your Ummah who
have not yet been born? He said: Suppose a man had horses with white blazes on
foreheads and legs among horses which were all black, tell me, would he not
recognize his own horses? They said: Certainly. ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Messenger
[S.A.W.S]. He said: They would come with white faces and arms and legs owing to
ablution, and I would arrive at the Cistern before them. Some people would be
driven away from my Cistern as the stray camel is driven away. I would call
out. Come, come. Then it would be said (to me): These people changed themselves
after you, and I would say: Be off, be off.

morning to Buthan or al-’Aqiq and bring two large she camels without being
guilty of sin or without severing the ties of kinship? We said: Messenger of
ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], we would like to do it. Upon this he said: Does not
one of you go out in the morning to the Mosque and teach or recite two verses
from the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T], the MAJESTIC and GLORIOUS? That is better for
him than two she camels, and three verses are better (than three she camels),

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] say:
Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an

and Surah Al ‘Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two
clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who
recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqara, for to take recourse to it is a blessing
and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.

before. Then when an Angel (P.B.U.H) descended through it, he said: This is an
Angel (P.B.U.H) who came down to the earth who had never come down before. He
greeted and said: Rejoice in two lights given to you which have not been given
to any Prophet (P.B.U.T) before you: Falihat al-Kitab (1.1-7) and the
concluding verses of Suarah al-Baqara (2.286). You will never recite a letter

[S.A.W.S] know best. He again said: Abu’l-Mundhir (R.A), do you know the verse
from the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] which, according to you, is the greatest? I
said: "ALLAH, there is no god but HE, the LIVING, the ETERNAL." (Ayat

When ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
delivered the sermon, his eyes became red, his voice rose and his anger
increased so that he was like one giving a warning against the enemy and
saying: "The enemy has made a morning attack on you and in the evening
too." He would also say:" The last Hour and I have been sent like
these two." And he would join his forefinger and middle finger; and would
further say: "The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of ALLAH
[S.W.T], and the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad
[S.A.W.S]. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every
innovation is error." He would further say: I am more dear to a Muslim

[S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], the rich have taken away (air the) reward. They observe
prayer as we do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give sadaqa out of
their surplus riches. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Has ALLAH
[S.W.T] not prescribed for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do
sadaqa? In every declaration of the Glorification of ALLAH [S.W.T] (i.e. saying
Subhan ALLAH) there is a sadaqa, and every Takbir (i.e. saying ALLAHU Akbar) is
a sadaqa, and every Praise of HIS (saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a sadaqa and
every declaration that HE is ONE (La illha ill-ALLAH) is a sadaqa, and enjoining
of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that which is evil is a sadaqa, and in
man's sexual Intercourse (with his wife,) there is a sadaqa. They (the Companions
(R.A)) said: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], is there reward for him who
satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell me, if he were to devote
it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he

ready to march) in the way of ALLAH [S.W.T], flies on its back whenever he
hears a fearful shriek, or a call for help, flies to it seeking death at places

Chapter 4, Book 31: Pertaining To The Merits Of The Companions (R.A) Of The
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 5915:
This hadith has
been narrated on the authority of Shu'ba (R.A) with the same chain of
transmitters. Amir b. Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas (R.A) reported on the authority of his
father:
That Muawiya b. Abi Sufyin appointed Sa'd
(R.A) as the Governor and said: What prevents you from abusing Abu Turab
(Hadrat 'Ali (R.A)), whereupon he said: It is because of three things which I
remember ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] having said about him that I would
not abuse him and even if I find one of those three things for me, it would be
more dear to me than the red camel. I heard ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
say about 'Ali (R.A) as he left behind him in one of his campaigns (that was
Tabuk). 'Ali (R.A) said to him: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], you leave
me behind along with women and children. Thereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] said to him: Aren't you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron
(P.B.U.H) was unto Moses (P.B.U.H) but with this exception that there is no
Prophet after me. And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaibar: I would
certainly give this standard to a person who loves ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS
Messenger [S.A.W.S] and ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Messenger [S.A.W.S] love him too.
He (the narrator) said: We have been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Call 'Ali (R.A). He was called and his eyes were
inflamed. He applied saliva to his eyes and handed over the standard to him,
and ALLAH [S.W.T] gave him victory. (The third occasion is this) when the
(following) verse was revealed: "Let us summon our children and your
children." ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] called 'Ali, Fatima, Hasan
and Husain (R.A) and said: O ALLAH [S.W.T], they are my family.
Sahih Muslim: Chapter 4, Book 31: Pertaining To The Merits Of The Companions Of The Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 5920:
Yazid b. Hayyan (R.A) reported:
I went along with Husain b. Sabra and ‘Umar b. Muslim to Zaid b. Arqam (R.A) and, as we sat by his side, Husain (R.A) said to him: Zaid (R.A), you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] listened to his talk, fought by his side in (different) battles, offered prayer behind me. Zaid (R.A), you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid (R.A), narrate to us what you heard from ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]. He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], so accept whatever I narrate to you, and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He Praised ALLAH [S.W.T], Extolled HIM and delivered the sermon and exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the Angel of death (P.B.U.H)) from my LORD and I, in response to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family. He (Husain (R.A)) said to Zaid (R.A): Who are the members of his household? Aren’t his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the members of his family (but here) the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: ‘Ali (R.A) and the offspring of ‘Ali (R.A), ‘Aqil (R.A) and the offspring of ‘Aqil (R.A) and the offspring of Ja’far (R.A) and the offspring of ‘Abbas (R.A). Husain (R.A) said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid (R.A) said: Yes.

Chapter 33, Book 6: Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm), Number 2603:
Abu Qatada
al-Ansari (R.A) reported:
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
was asked about his fasting. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] felt
annoyed. Thereupon 'Umar (R.A) said: We are pleased with ALLAH [S.W.T] as the
LORD, with Islam as our Code of Life, with Muhammad [S.A.W.S] as the Messenger
and with our pledge (to you for willing and cheerful submission) as a (sacred)
commitment. He was then asked about perpetual fasting, whereupon he said: He
neither fasted nor did he break it, or he did not fast and he did not break it.
He was then asked about fasting for two days and breaking one day. He (the Holy
Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: And who has strength enough to do it? He was asked
about fasting for a day and breaking for two days, whereupon he said: May ALLAH
[S.W.T] bestow upon us strength to do it. He was then asked about fasting for a
day and breaking on the other, whereupon he said: That is the fasting of my
brother David (P.B.U.H). He was then asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon
he said: It was the day on which I was born, on which I was commissioned with
Prophethood or Revelation was sent to me, (and he further) said: Three days'
fasting every month and of the whole of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fast.
He was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafa (9th of Dhu'I-Hijja), whereupon
he said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year. He was
asked about fasting on the day of 'Ashura (10th of Muharram), whereupon be
said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year. (Imam Muslim (R.A) said: That
in this hadith there is a) narration of Imam Shu'ba (R.A) that he was asked
about fasting on Monday and Thursday, but we (Imam Muslim (R.A)) did not
mention Thursday for we found it as an error (in reporting).
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 29, Book 20: On Government, Number 4636:
It has been
narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (R.A) who said:
The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] was
asked: What deed could be an equivalent of Jihad in the way of ALLAH [S.W.T],
the ALMIGHTY and EXALTED? He answered: You do not have the strength to do that
deed. The narrator said: They repeated the question twice or thrice. Every time
he answered: You do not have the strength to do it. When the question was asked
for the third time, he said: One who goes out for Jihad is like a person who
keeps fasts, stands in prayer (constantly), (obeying) ALLAH [S.W.T]’s (behests
contained in) the verses (of the Qur'an), and does not exhibit any lassitude in
fasting and prayer until the Mujahid returns from Jihad in the way of ALLAH
[S.W.T], the EXALTED.

Chapter 9, Book 32: Virtue, Good Manners And Joining Of The Ties Of
Relationship (Kitab Al-Birr Wa’S-Salat-I-Wa’L-Adab), Number 6222:
Abu Huraira
(R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
The gates of Paradise are not opened but on two days, Monday and Thursday. And
then every servant (of ALLAH [S.W.T]) is granted pardon who does not associate
anything with ALLAH [S.W.T] except the person in whose (heart) there is rancor
against his brother. And it would be said: Look towards both of them until
there is reconciliation; look toward both of them until there is
reconciliation; look towards both of them until there is reconciliation. This
Hadith has been narrated on the authority of Suhail (R.A) who narrated it on
the authority of his father with the chain of transmitters of MaIik (R.A), but
with this variation of wording: (Those would not be granted pardon) who boycott
each other."

ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying: He who called (people) to
righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of
those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect.
And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) of its
sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any
respect.

Chapter 11, Book 35: Pertaining To The Remembrance Of ALLAH [S.W.T] (Kitab

Abu Huraira

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
He who alleviates the suffering of a brother out of the sufferings of the
world, ALLAH [S.W.T] would alleviate his suffering from the sufferings of the
Day of Resurrection, and he who finds relief for one who is hard pressed, ALLAH
[S.W.T] would make things easy for him in the Hereafter, and he who conceals
(the faults) of a Muslim, ALLAH [S.W.T] would conceal his faults in the world
and in the Hereafter. ALLAH [S.W.T] is at the back of a servant so long as the
servant is at the back of his brother, and he who treads the path in search of
knowledge, ALLAH [S.W.T] would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for him
and those persons who assemble in the house among the houses of ALLAH [S.W.T]
(Mosques) and recite the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] and they learn and teach the
Qur'an (among themselves) there would descend upon them the Tranquility and
Mercy would cover them and the Angels (P.B.U.T) would surround them and ALLAH
[S.W.T] makes a mention of them in the presence of those near HIM, and he who
is slow-paced in doing good deeds, his (high) descent does not make him go
ahead.

dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have
done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so

Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and
this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if
he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (ALLAH [S.W.T]), thus there is a
good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and
endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it.

expiates some of his sins for that."

was created, on it he entered Paradise, and on it, he was sent down from it.
And in it there is an hour in which the Muslim worshipper would not stand in
Salat, asking ALLAH [S.W.T] for anything except that HE would give it to
him.'" Abu Huraira (R.A) said: "I met Abdullah bin Salam (R.A), and I
mentioned this Hadith to him. He said: 'I am more knowledgeable about that
hour.' So I said: 'Inform me about it, and do not keep any of it from me.' He
said: 'It is after al-Asr until the sun has set.' I said: 'How can it be after
Al-Asr when ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: 'the Muslim worshipper
would not stand in Salat.' And that is a time that prayer is not performed
in?" So Abdullah bin Salam (R.A) said: 'Didn't ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] say: "Whoever sat in a gathering awaiting the Salat then he is
in Salat"? I said: 'Of course.' He said: 'Then that is it.'"

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Your stay (in this world) in comparison to the stay of the nations
preceding you, is like the period between 'Asr prayer and the sun set (in
comparison to a whole day). The people of the Torah were given the Torah and
they acted on it till midday and then they were unable to carry on. And they
were given (a reward equal to) one Qirat each. Then the people of the Gospel
were given the Gospel and they acted on it till 'Asr Prayer and then they were
unable to carry on, so they were given a reward equal to) one Qirat each. Then
you were given the Qur'an and you acted on it till sunset, therefore you were
given (a reward equal to) two Qirats each. On that, the people of the
Scriptures said, 'These people (Muslims) did less work than we but they took a
bigger reward.' ALLAH [S.W.T] said (to them). 'Have I done any oppression to
you as regards your rights?' They said, "No." Then ALLAH [S.W.T]
said, 'That is MY Blessing which I grant to whomsoever I Will.'"

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying
that ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and GLORIOUS, said: MY servants, I have made
oppression unlawful for ME and unlawful for you, so do not commit oppression
against one another. MY servants, all of you are liable to err except one whom
I guide on the right path, so seek right guidance from ME so that I should
direct you to the right path. O MY servants, all of you are hungry (needy) except
one whom I feed, so beg food from ME, so that I may give that to you. O MY
servants, all of you are naked (need clothes) except one whom I provide
garments, so beg clothes from ME, so that I should clothe you. O MY servants,
you commit error night and day and I am there to pardon your sins, so beg
pardon from ME so that I should grant you pardon. O MY servants, you can
neither do ME any harm nor can you do ME any good. O MY servants, even if the
first amongst you and the last amongst you and even the whole of human race of
yours, and that of jinns even, become (equal in) ALLAH [S.W.T] conscious like
the heart of a single person amongst you, nothing would add to MY Power. O MY
servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole
human race of yours and that of the jinns too in unison become the most wicked
(all beating) like the heart of a single person, it would cause no loss to MY
Power. O MY servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you
and the whole human race of yours and that of jinns also all stand in one plain
ground and you ask ME and I confer upon every person what he asks for, it would
not in any way, cause any loss to ME (even less) than that which is caused to
the ocean by dipping the needle in it. MY servants, these for you I shall
reward you for then, so he who deeds of yours which I am recording finds good
should Praise ALLAH and he who does not find that should not blame anyone but
his ownself. Sa'id (R.A) said: That when Abu Idris Khaulini (R.A) narrated this
hadith he knelt upon his knees.
