I went along with Husain b. Sabra and ‘Umar b. Muslim to Zaid b. Arqam (R.A) and, as we sat by his side, Husain (R.A) said to him: Zaid (R.A), you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] listened to his talk, fought by his side in (different) battles, offered prayer behind me. Zaid (R.A), you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid (R.A), narrate to us what you heard from ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]. He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], so accept whatever I narrate to you, and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He Praised ALLAH [S.W.T], Extolled HIM and delivered the sermon and exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the Angel of death (P.B.U.H)) from my LORD and I, in response to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family. He (Husain (R.A)) said to Zaid (R.A): Who are the members of his household? Aren’t his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the members of his family (but here) the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: ‘Ali (R.A) and the offspring of ‘Ali (R.A), ‘Aqil (R.A) and the offspring of ‘Aqil (R.A) and the offspring of Ja’far (R.A) and the offspring of ‘Abbas (R.A). Husain (R.A) said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid (R.A) said: Yes.

Selected Hadith Regarding Virtues And Merits Of The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] And His Family Members (Ahl al-Bayt) (R.A) And His Companions
(R.A)
Sahih Muslim,
Chapter 85, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0397:
'Abdullah b. Amr
b. al-'As (R.A) reported:
Verily the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
recited the words of ALLAH [S.W.T], the GREAT and GLORIOUS, that Ibrahim
(P.B.U.H) uttered. My LORD! Lo! They have led many of mankind astray:" But
whoso followeth me, he verily is of me" (al-Qur'an, 14.36) and Jesus (P.B.U.H)
said:" If THOU punisheth them, Lo! They are THY slaves, and if THOU
forgiveth them-verily THOU art the MIGHTY, the WISE" (al-Qur'an, 5.118).
Then he raised his hands and said: O LORD, my Ummah, my Ummah, and wept; so
ALLAH [S.W.T] the HIGH and the EXALTED said: O Gabriel (P.B.U.H), go to
Muhammad [S.A.W.S] (Though your LORD knows it fully well) and ask him: What
makes thee weep? So Gabriel (P.B.U.H) came to him and asked him, and the
Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] informed him what he had said (Though
ALLAH [S.W.T] knew it fully well). Upon this ALLAH [S.W.T] said: O Gabriel
(P.B.U.H), go to Muhammad [S.A.W.S] and say: Verily WE will please thee with
regard to your Ummah and would not displease thee.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 133, Book 4: Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat), Number 1760:
Ibn ‘Abbas (R.A)
reported:
That while Gabriel (P.B.U.H) was sitting with
the Apostle [S.A.W.S] he heard a creaking sound above him. He lifted his head
and said: This as a gate opened in heaven today which had never been opened
before. Then when an Angel (P.B.U.H) descended through it, he said: This is an
Angel (P.B.U.H) who came down to the earth who had never come down before. He
greeted and said: Rejoice in two lights given to you which have not been given
to any Prophet (P.B.U.T) before you: Falihat al-Kitab (1.1-7) and the
concluding verses of Suarah al-Baqara (2.286). You will never recite a letter
from them for which you will not be given (a reward).
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 2: Belief, Number 20:
Narrated Anas
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Whoever
possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith:
1. The one to
whom ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S) become dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a
person and he loves him Only for ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Sake.
3. Who hates to
revert to disbelief (atheism) after ALLAH [S.W.T] has brought (saved) him out
from it, as he hates to be thrown in Fire."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 12: Characteristics of Prayer, Number 804:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
Some poor people came to the Prophet [S.A.W.S]
and said, "The wealthy people will get higher grades and will have
permanent enjoyment and they pray like us and fast as we do. They have more
money by which they perform the Hajj, and 'Umra; fight and struggle in ALLAH
[S.W.T]'s Cause and give in charity." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said,
"Shall I not tell you a thing upon which if you acted you would catch up
with those who have surpassed you? Nobody would overtake you and you would be
better than the people amongst whom you live except those who would do the
same. Say, "Subhan-ALLAH", "Alhamdu-lillah" and
"ALLAHU Akbar" thirty three times each after every (compulsory)
prayer." We differed and some of us said that we should say,
"Subhan-ALLAH" thirty three times and "Alhamdu lillah"
thirty three times and "ALLAHU Akbar" thirty four times. I went to
the Prophet [S.A.W.S] who said, "Say, "Subhan-ALLAH" and
"Alhamdu-lillah" and "ALLAHU Akbar" all together for thirty
three times."

Its Description, Its Bounties And Its Intimates (Kitab Al-Jannat Wa Sifat
Na'Imiha Wa Ahliha), Number 6791:
Abu Huraira
(R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
The people most loved by me from amongst my Ummah would be those who would come
after me but everyone amongst them would have the keenest desire to catch a
glimpse of me even at the cost of his family and wealth.
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 76: To Make the Heart Tender (Ar-Riqaq), Number 574:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
I said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S]! Who will be the luckiest person who will gain your intercession on
the Day of Resurrection?" The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "O Abu Huraira
(R.A)! I have thought that none will ask me about this Hadith before you, as I
know your longing for the (learning of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will
have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who said, 'None
has the right to be Worshiped but ALLAH,' sincerely from the bottom of his
heart."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 8: Prayers, Number 429:
Narrated Jabir
bin 'Abdullah (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"I have been given five things which were not given to any amongst the
Prophets (P.B.U.T) before me. These are:
1. ALLAH [S.W.T]
made me victorious by awe (by HIS frightening my enemies) for a distance of one
month's journey.
2. The earth has
been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to
perform Tayammum. Therefore, my followers can pray wherever the time of a
prayer is due.
3. The booty has
been made Halal (lawful) for me (and was not made so for anyone else).
4. Every Prophet
(P.B.U.T) used to be sent to his nation exclusively but I have been sent to all
mankind.
5. I have been
given the right of intercession (on the Day of Resurrection.)
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 22: Actions while Praying, Number 294:
Narrated
'Abdullah bin Masud (R.A):
We used to say the greeting, name and greet
each other in the prayer. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] heard it and
said:--"Say, 'At-tahiyyatu lil-lahi was-salawatu wat-taiyibatu. Assalamu
'Alaika aiyuha-n-Nabiyu wa-rahmatu-l-lahi wa-barakatuhu. Assalamu alaina wa- 'ala 'ibadi-l-lahi
as-salihin. Ashhadu an la ilaha illa-l-lah wa ashhadu anna Muhammad an 'abdu hu
wa Rasuluh. (All the compliments are for ALLAH and all the prayers and all the
good things (are for ALLAH). Peace be on you, O Prophet, and ALLAH's Mercy and
Blessings (are on you). And Peace be on us and on the good (pious) worshipers
of ALLAH [S.W.T]. I testify that none has the right to be Worshiped but ALLAH
and that Muhammad is HIS slave and Apostle.) So, when you have said this, then
you have surely sent the greetings to every good (pious) worshiper of ALLAH
[S.W.T], whether he be in the Heaven or on the Earth."
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55: Prophets (P.B.U.T), Number 504:

Prophet (P.B.U.T) was given miracles because of which people believed, but what
I have been given, is Divine Inspiration which ALLAH [S.W.T] has revealed to
me. So I hope that my followers will outnumber the followers of the other
Prophets (P.B.U.T) on the Day of Resurrection."

"The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said, May he be humiliated, the man in whose presence I am mentioned and he
does not send Salah upon me; may he be humiliated, the man who sees the month
of Ramadan come and go, and he is not forgiven; may he be humiliated, the man
whose parents live to old age and they do not cause him to be granted
admittance to Paradise."

asked ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] saying, 'O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S]! How should one (ask ALLAH [S.W.T] to) send blessings on you, the
members of the family, for ALLAH [S.W.T] has taught us how to salute you (in
the prayer)?' He said, 'Say: O ALLAH! Send YOUR Mercy on Muhammad and on the
family of Muhammad, as YOU sent YOUR Mercy on Abraham and on the family of
Abraham, for YOU are the MOST PRAISEWORTHY, the MOST GLORIOUS. O ALLAH! Send
YOUR Blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as YOU sent YOUR Blessings
on Abraham and on the family of Abraham, for YOU are the MOST PRAISEWORTHY, the
MOST GLORIOUS.'"

The people of Quraish worried about the lady
from Bani Makhzum who had committed theft. They asked, "Who will intercede
for her with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]?" Some said, "No one
dare to do so except Usama bin Zaid (R.A) the beloved one to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]." When Usama (R.A) spoke about that to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, (to him), "Do
you try to intercede for somebody in a case connected with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Prescribed
Punishments?" Then he got up and delivered a sermon saying, "What
destroyed the nations preceding you, was that if a noble amongst them stole,
they would forgive him, and if a poor person amongst them stole, they would
inflict ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Legal punishment on him. By ALLAH [S.W.T], if Fatima
(R.A), the daughter of Muhammad [S.A.W.S] stole, I would cut off her
hand."

in a certain way, and I had heard The Prophet [S.A.W.S] reciting the same Verse
in a different way. So I took him to The Prophet [S.A.W.S] and informed him of
that but I noticed the sign of disapproval on his face, and then he said,
"Both of you are correct, so don't differ, for the nations before you
differed, so they were destroyed."

place of one brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its
beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that
brick, and I am the last of the Prophets (P.B.U.T)."

bin Malik (R.A):
I saw ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] at the
'time when the Asr prayer was due. Then the people were searching for water for
ablution but they could not find any. Then some water was brought to ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] and he placed his hand in the pot and ordered the
people to perform the ablution with the water. I saw water flowing from
underneath his fingers and the people started performing the ablution till all
of them did it.
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 56: Virtues And Merits Of The Prophet [S.A.W.S] and His
Companions (R.A), Number 778:
Narrated Anas
bin Malik (R.A):
Abu Talha (R.A) said to Um Sulaim (R.A),
"I have noticed feebleness in the voice of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] which I think, is caused by hunger. Have you got any food?" She
said, "Yes." She brought out some loaves of barley and took out a
veil belonging to her, and wrapped the bread in part of it and put it under my
arm and wrapped part of the veil round me and sent me to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]. I went carrying it and found ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]
in the Mosque sitting with some people. When I stood there, ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S] asked, "Has Abu Talha (R.A) sent you?" I said,
"Yes". He asked, "With some food? I said, "Yes" ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] then said to the men around him, "Get
up!" He set out (accompanied by them) and I went ahead of them till I
reached Abu Talha (R.A) and told him (of The Prophet [S.A.W.S]'s visit). Abu
Talha (R.A) said, "O Um Sulaim (R.A)! ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] is
coming with the people and we have no food to feed them." She said,
"ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S] know better." So Abu Talha
(R.A) went out to receive ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S] came along with Abu Talha (R.A). ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] said, "O Um Sulaim (R.A)! Bring whatever you have." She
brought the bread which ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] ordered to be broken
into pieces. Um Sulaim (R.A) poured on them some butter from an oilskin. Then
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] recited what ALLAH [S.W.T] wished him to
recite, and then said, "Let ten persons come (to share the meal)."
Ten persons were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he again said,
"Let another ten do the same." They were admitted, ate their fill and
went out. Then he again said, '"'Let another ten persons (do the
same.)" They were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he said,
"Let another ten persons come." In short, all of them ate their fill,
and they were seventy or eighty men.

Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 56: Virtues And Merits Of The Prophet [S.A.W.S] and His
Companions (R.A), Number 779:
Narrated
'Abdullah (R.A):
We used to consider miracles as ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Blessings, but you people consider them to be a warning. Once we were
with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] on a journey, and we ran short of water.
He said, "Bring the water remaining with you." The people brought a
utensil containing a little water. He placed his hand in it and said,
"Come to the blessed water, and the Blessing is from ALLAH [S.W.T]."
I saw the water flowing from among the fingers of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S], and no doubt, we heard the meal Glorifying ALLAH [S.W.T], when it
was being eaten (by him).
Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 56: Virtues And Merits Of The Prophet [S.A.W.S] and His

Narrated Anas
(R.A):
Once during the lifetime of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S], the people of Medina suffered from drought. So while The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] was delivering a sermon on a Friday a man got up saying,
"O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! The horses and sheep have perished.
Will you invoke ALLAH [S.W.T] to bless us with rain?" The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] lifted both his hands and invoked. The sky at that time was as clear
as glass. Suddenly a wind blew, raising clouds that gathered together, and it
started raining heavily. We came out (of the Mosque) wading through the flowing
water till we reached our homes. It went on raining till the next Friday, when
the same man or some other man stood up and said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]! The houses have collapsed; please invoke ALLAH [S.W.T] to
withhold the rain." On that The Prophet [S.A.W.S] smiled and said, "O
ALLAH [S.W.T], (let it rain) around us and not on us." I then looked at
the clouds to see them separating forming a sort of a crown round Medina.

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] used to stand by a tree
or a date-palm on Friday. Then an Ansari woman or man said. "O ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! Shall we make a pulpit for you?" He replied,
"If you wish." So they made a pulpit for him and when it was Friday,
he proceeded towards the pulpit (for delivering the sermon). The date-palm
cried like a child! The Prophet [S.A.W.S] descended (the pulpit) and embraced
it while it continued moaning like a child being quietened. The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] said, "It was crying for (missing) what it used to hear of
religious knowledge given near to it."

their faces will be like flat shields. And you will find that the best people
are those who hate responsibility of ruling most of all till they are chosen to
be the rulers. And the people are of different natures: The best in the
pre-Islamic period are the best in Islam. A time will come when any of you will
love to see me rather than to have his family and property doubled."

The people used to ask ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] about good, but I used to ask him about evil for fear that it might
overtake me. Once I said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! We were in
ignorance and in evil and ALLAH [S.W.T] has bestowed upon us the present good;
will there by any evil after this good?" He said, "Yes." I
asked, "Will there be good after that evil?" He said, "Yes, but
it would be tained with Dakhan (i.e. Little evil)." I asked, "What
will its Dakhan be?" He said, "There will be some people who will
lead (people) according to principles other than my tradition. You will see
their actions and disapprove of them." I said, "Will there by any
evil after that good?" He said, "Yes, there will be some people who
will invite others to the doors of Hell, and whoever accepts their invitation
to it will be thrown in it (by them)." I said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S]! Describe those people to us." He said, "They will
belong to us and speak our language" I asked, "What do you order me
to do if such a thing should take place in my life?" He said, "Adhere
to the group of Muslims and their Chief." I asked, "If there is
neither a group (of Muslims) nor a chief (what shall I do)?" He said,
"Keep away from all those different sects, even if you had to bite (i.e.
eat) the root of a tree, till you meet ALLAH [S.W.T] while you are still in
that state."

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "A horse may
be kept for one of three purposes: for a man it may be a source of reward; for
another it may be a means of living; and for a third it may be a burden (a
source of committing sins). As for the one for whom it is a source of reward,
he is the one who keeps his horse for the sake of Jihad in ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Cause; he ties it with a long rope on a pasture or in a garden. So whatever its
rope allows it to eat, will be regarded as good rewardable deeds (for its
owner). And if it breaks off its rope and jumps over one or two hillocks, even
its dung will be considered amongst his good deeds. And if it passes by a river
and drinks water from it, that will be considered as good deeds for his
benefit) even if he has had no intention of watering it. A horse is a shelter
for the one who keeps it so that he may earn his living honestly and takes it
as a refuge to keep him from following illegal ways (of gaining money), and
does not forget the rights of ALLAH [S.W.T] (i.e. paying the Zakat and allowing
others to use it for ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Sake). But a horse is a burden (and a
source of committing sins for him who keeps it out of pride and pretense and
with the intention of harming the Muslims." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] was
asked about donkeys. He replied, "Nothing has been revealed to be
concerning them except this comprehensive Verse (which covers
everything):--'Then whosoever has done good equal to the weight of an atom (or a
small ant), Shall see it (its reward) And whosoever has done evil equal to the
weight of an atom (or a small) ant), Shall see it (Its punishment)."

The similitude of that guidance and knowledge with which ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED

good piece of land which receives the rainfall (eagerly) and as a result of it
there is grown in it herbage and grass abundantly. Then there is a land hard
and barren which retains water and the people derive benefit from it and they
drink it and make the animals drink. Then there is another land which is
barren. Neither water is retained in it, nor is the grass grown in it. And that
is the similitude of the first one who develops the understanding of the
religion of ALLAH [S.W.T] and it becomes a source of benefit to him with which
ALLAH [S.W.T] sent me. (The second one is that) who acquires the knowledge of

While a Jew was selling goods, he was given

ALLAH [S.W.T], WHO chose Moses (P.B.U.H) among mankind. A person from the Ansar
heard it and gave a blow at his face saying: (You have the audacity) to say: By
HIM WHO chose Moses (P.B.U.H) amongst mankind, whereas ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] is living amongst us. The Jew went to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] and said: Abu'l-Qasim [S.A.W.S], I am a Dhimmi and (thus need
your protection) by a covenant, and added: Such and such person has given a
blow upon my face. Thereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: Why did
you give a blow on his face? He said: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], this
man said: By HIM WHO chose Moses (P.B.U.H) amongst mankind, whereas you are
living amongst us. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] became angry and signs
of anger could be seen on his face, and then said: Don't make distinction
amongst The Prophets (P.B.U.T) of ALLAH [S.W.T]. When the horn will be blown
and whatever is in the heavens and the earth would swoon but he whom ALLAH
[S.W.T] grants exception, then another horn will be blown and I would be the
first amongst those who would recover and Moses (P.B.U.H) would be catching
hold of the Throne and I do not know whether it is a compensation for that when
he swooned on the Day of Tur or he would be resurrected before me and I do not
say that anyone is more excellent than Yunus son of Matta (P.B.U.H). This
hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Salama (R.A) with the same

afflictions that will be heaving up and down like waves of the sea."
Hudhaifa (R.A) replied, "O chief of the believers! You need not fear those
(afflictions) as there is a closed door between you and them." 'Umar (R.A)
asked, "Will that door be opened or broken?" Hudhaifa (R.A) replied,
"No, it will be broken." 'Umar (R.A) said, "Then it is very
likely that the door will not be closed again." Later on the people asked
Hudhaifa (R.A), "Did 'Umar (R.A) know what that door meant?" He said.
"Yes, 'Umar (R.A) knew it as everyone knows that there will be night
before the tomorrow morning. I narrated to 'Umar (R.A) an authentic narration,

to you." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said thrice, "O Abu Bakr (R.A)! May
ALLAH [S.W.T] forgive you." In the meanwhile, 'Umar (R.A) regretted (his
refusal of Abu Bakr (R.A)'s excuse) and went to Abu Bakr (R.A)'s house and
asked if Abu Bakr (R.A) was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to
the Prophet [S.A.W.S] and greeted him, but signs of displeasure appeared on the
face of the Prophet [S.A.W.S] till Abu Bakr (R.A) pitied ('Umar (R.A)), so he
knelt and said twice, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! By ALLAH
[S.W.T]! I was more unjust to him (than he to me)." The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] sent me (as a Prophet) to you (people) but you said
(to me), 'You are telling a lie,' while Abu Bakr (R.A) said, 'He has said the
truth,' and consoled me with himself and his money." He then said twice,
"Won't you then give up harming my companion?" After that nobody
harmed Abu Bakr (R.A).

Narrated 'Aisha
(R.A) (the wife of the Prophet [S.A.W.S]):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] died while
Abu Bakr (R.A) was at a place called As-Sunah (Al-'Aliya) 'Umar (R.A) stood up
and said, "By ALLAH [S.W.T]! ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] is not
dead!" 'Umar (R.A) (later on) said, "By ALLAH [S.W.T]! Nothing occurred
to my mind except that." He said, "Verily! ALLAH [S.W.T] will
resurrect him and he will cut the hands and legs of some men." Then Abu
Bakr (R.A) came and uncovered the face of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S],
kissed him and said, "Let my mother and father be sacrificed for you, (O
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]), you are good in life and in death. By ALLAH
[S.W.T] in WHOSE Hands my life is, ALLAH [S.W.T] will never make you taste
death twice." Then he went out and said, "O oath-taker! Don't be
hasty." When Abu Bakr (R.A) spoke, 'Umar (R.A) sat down. Abu Bakr (R.A)
Praised and Glorified ALLAH [S.W.T] and said, No doubt! Whoever Worshiped
Muhammad [S.A.W.S], then Muhammad [S.A.W.S] is dead, but whoever Worshiped
ALLAH [S.W.T], then ALLAH [S.W.T] is Alive and shall never die." Then he
recited ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Statement:-- "(O Muhammad) Verily you will die,
and they also will die." (39.30) He also recited:-- "Muhammad is no
more than an Apostle; and indeed many Apostles have passed away, before him, If
he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels? And he who turns
back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to ALLAH [S.W.T] And ALLAH
[S.W.T] will give reward to those who are grateful." (3.144) The people
wept loudly, and the Ansar were assembled with Sad bin 'Ubada in the shed of
Bani Saida. They said (to the emigrants). "There should be one 'Amir from
us and one from you." Then Abu Bakr, Umar bin Al-Khattab and Abu 'baida
bin Al-Jarrah (R.A) went to them. 'Umar (R.A) wanted to speak but Abu Bakr
(R.A) stopped him. 'Umar (R.A) later on used to say, "By ALLAH [S.W.T], I
intended only to say something that appealed to me and I was afraid that Abu
Bakr (R.A) would not speak so well. Then Abu Bakr (R.A) spoke and his speech
was very eloquent. He said in his statement, "We are the rulers and you
(Ansars) are the ministers (i.e. advisers)," Hubab bin Al-Mundhir said,
"No, by ALLAH [S.W.T] we won't accept this. But there must be a ruler from
us and a ruler from you." Abu Bakr (R.A) said, "No, we will be the
rulers and you will be the ministers, for they (i.e. Quarish) are the best
family amongst the 'Arabs and of best origin. So you should elect either 'Umar
(R.A) or Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah (R.A) as your ruler." 'Umar (R.A) said
(to Abu Bakr (R.A)), "No but we elect you, for you are our chief and the
best amongst us and the most beloved of all of us to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S]." So 'Umar (R.A) took Abu Bakr (R.A)'s hand and gave the pledge
of allegiance and the people too gave the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr
(R.A). Someone said, "You have killed Sad bin Ubada." 'Umar (R.A)
said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] has killed him." 'Aisha (R.A) said (in another
narration), ("When the Prophet [S.A.W.S] was on his death-bed) he looked
up and said thrice, (Amongst) the Highest Companion (See Qur'an 4.69)' Aisha
(R.A) said, ALLAH [S.W.T] benefited the people by their two speeches. 'Umar
(R.A) frightened the people some of whom were hypocrites whom ALLAH [S.W.T]
caused to abandon Islam because of 'Umar (R.A)'s speech. Then Abu Bakr (R.A)
led the people to True Guidance and acquainted them with the right path they
were to follow so that they went out reciting:-- "Muhammad is no more than
an Apostle and indeed many Apostles have passed away before him.." (3.144)

this direction." So I followed his way, asking about him till he entered a
place called Bir Aris. I sat at its gate that was made of date-palm leaves till
the Prophet [S.A.W.S] finished answering the call of nature and performed
ablution. Then I went up to him to see him sitting at the well of Aris at the
middle of its edge with his legs uncovered, hanging in the well. I greeted him
and went back and sat at the gate. I said, "Today I will be the gatekeeper
of the Prophet [S.A.W.S]." Abu Bakr (R.A) came and pushed the gate. I
asked, "Who is it?" He said, "Abu Bakr (R.A)." I told him

"If ALLAH [S.W.T] wants good for so-and-so (i.e. my brother) HE will bring

place". Then he sat down between us till I found the coolness of his feet

what you have asked me? When you go to bed, say, 'ALLAHU-Akbar' thirty-four
times, and 'Subhan ALLAH thirty-three times, and 'Alhamdu-lillah thirty-three
times for that is better for you both than a servant."

The people used to say, "Abu Huraira
(R.A) narrates too many narrations." In fact I used to keep close to ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] and was satisfied with what filled my stomach. I
ate no leavened bread and dressed no decorated striped clothes, and never did a
man or a woman serve me, and I often used to press my belly against gravel
because of hunger, and I used to ask a man to recite a Qur’anic Verse to me
although I knew it, so that he would take me to his home and feed me. And the
most generous of all the people to the poor was Ja'far bin Abi Talib (R.A). He
used to take us to his home and offer us what was available therein. He would
even offer us an empty folded leather container (of butter) which we would split
and lick whatever was in it.

prayer as we do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give sadaqa out of
their surplus riches. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Has ALLAH
[S.W.T] not prescribed for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do
sadaqa? In every declaration of the Glorification of ALLAH [S.W.T] (i.e. saying
Subhan ALLAH) there is a sadaqa, and every Takbir (i.e. saying ALLAHU Akbar) is
a sadaqa, and every Praise of HIS (saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a sadaqa and
every declaration that HE is ONE (La illha ill-ALLAH) is a sadaqa, and
enjoining of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that which is evil is a
sadaqa, and in man's sexual intercourse (with his wife,) there is a sadaqa.
They (the Companions (R.A)) said: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], is
there reward for him who satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell
me, if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on
his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should
have a reward.

Friday evening, the day on which al-Aslami was stoned to death (for committing
adultery): The Islamic religion will continue until the Hour has been
established, or you have been ruled over by twelve Caliphs, all of them being
from the Quraish. Also heard him say: A small force of the Muslims will capture
the white palace, the police of the Persian Emperor or his descendants. I also
heard him say: Before the Day of Judgment there will appear (a number of)
impostors. You are to guard against them. I also heard him say: When ALLAH
[S.W.T] grants wealth to any one of you, he should first spend it on himself
and his family (and then give it in charity to the poor). I heard him (also)

after him. He commanded the announcer to make announcement to the effect that
he to whom ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] had held out promise or owed any
debt should come (to him). I came and said: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]
had said to me: In case there comes to us the wealth of Bahrain I shall
give you so much, and so much. Abu Bakr (R.A) took a handful (of the coins) and
gave that to me once and asked me to count them I counted them as five hundred
dinars and he said: Here is double of this for you.

invoked ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Mercy upon 'Umar (R.A) and said: You have left none

drew out, some weakness (was perceived in it) (May ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED

same very state (the Prophet's thigh or shank uncovered). Then 'Umar (R.A)
sought permission for getting in and it was given to him and he conversed in
that very state. Then 'Uthman (R.A) sought permission for getting in; ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] sat down and he set right his clothes. Muhammad
(R.A) (one of the narrators) said: I do not say that it happened on the same
day. He ('Uthman (R.A)) then entered and conversed and as he went out, A'isha
(R.A) said: Abu Bakr (R.A) entered and you did not stir and did not observe
much care (in arranging your clothes), then 'Umar (R.A) entered and you did not
stir and did not arrange your clothes, then 'Uthman (R.A) entered and you got
up and set your clothes right, thereupon he said: Should I not show modesty to

That ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] left
'Ali b. Abi Talib (R.A) behind him (as he proceeded) to the expedition of
Tabuk, whereupon he ('Ali (R.A)) said: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], are
you leaving me behind amongst women and children? Thereupon he (the Holy
Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Aren't you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron
(P.B.U.H) was unto Moses (P.B.U.H) but with this exception that there would be
no Prophet after me.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 4, Book 31: Pertaining To The Merits Of The Companions (R.A) Of The
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 5915:
This hadith has
been narrated on the authority of Shu'ba (R.A) with the same chain of
transmitters. Amir b. Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas (R.A) reported on the authority of his
father:
That Muawiya b. Abi Sufyin appointed Sa'd
(R.A) as the Governor and said: What prevents you from abusing Abu Turab
(Hadrat 'Ali (R.A)), whereupon he said: It is because of three things which I
remember ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] having said about him that I would
not abuse him and even if I find one of those three things for me, it would be
more dear to me than the red camel. I heard ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
say about 'Ali (R.A) as he left behind him in one of his campaigns (that was
Tabuk). 'Ali (R.A) said to him: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], you leave
me behind along with women and children. Thereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] said to him: Aren't you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron
(P.B.U.H) was unto Moses (P.B.U.H) but with this exception that there is no
Prophet after me. And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaibar: I would
certainly give this standard to a person who loves ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS
Messenger [S.A.W.S] and ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Messenger [S.A.W.S] love him too.
He (the narrator) said: We have been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Call 'Ali (R.A). He was called and his eyes were
inflamed. He applied saliva to his eyes and handed over the standard to him,
and ALLAH [S.W.T] gave him victory. (The third occasion is this) when the
(following) verse was revealed: "Let us summon our children and your
children." ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] called 'Ali, Fatima, Hasan
and Husain (R.A) and said: O ALLAH [S.W.T], they are my family.
Sahih Muslim: Chapter 4, Book 31: Pertaining To The Merits Of The Companions Of The Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 5920:
Yazid b. Hayyan (R.A) reported:I went along with Husain b. Zaid (R.A) said: Yes.

down on bed during one night on his arrival at Medina and said: Were there a pious person
from amongst my companions (R.A) who should keep a watch for me during the
night? She (A'isha (R.A)) reported: We were in this state that we heard the
clanging noise of arms lie (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Who is it? He
said: This is Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas (R.A). ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
said to him: What brings you here? Thereupon he said: I harbored fear (lest any
harm should come to) ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], so I came to serve as
your sentinel. ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] invoked Blessings upon him.
He then slept.

to him until he reached Bazar of Banfi Qainuqal. He came back to the tent of
Fatima (R.A) and said: Is the little chap (meaning Hasan (R.A)) there? We were
under the impression that his mother had detained him in order to bathe him and
dress him and garland him with a sweet garland. Not much time had passed that
he (Hasan (R.A)) came running until both of them embraced each other, thereupon
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: O ALLAH [S.W.T], I love him; love him

That ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
called his daughter Fatima (R.A) (during his last illness). He said to her

What is that which ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said to you secretly and
you wept and then said to you something secretly and you laughed? Thereupon she
said: He informed me secretly of his death and so I wept. He then again

We, the wives of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S], were with him (during his last illness) and none was absent
therefrom that Fatima (R.A), who walked after the style of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S], came there, and when he saw her he welcomed her saying:
You are welcome, my daughter. He their made her sit on his right side or on his
left side. Then he said something secretly to her and she wept bitterly and
when he found her (plunged) in grief he said to her something secretly for the
second time and she laughed. I ('A'isha (R.A)) said to her: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] has singled you amongst the women (of the family) for
talking (to you something secretly) and you wept. When ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] recovered from illness, I said to her. What did ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger say to you? Thereupon she said: I am not going to disclose
the secret of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]. When ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] died, I said to her: I adjure you by the right that I have
upon you that you should narrate to me what ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
said to you. She said: Yes, now I can do that (so listen to it). When he talked
to me secretly for the first time he informed me that Gabirel (P.B.U.H) was in
the habit of reciting the Qur'an along with him once or twice every year, but
this year it had been twice and so he perceived his death quite near, so fear
ALLAH [S.W.T] and be patient (and he told me) that he would be a befitting
forerunner for me and so I wept as you saw me. And when he saw me in grief he
talked to me secretly for the second time and said: Fatima (R.A), are you not
pleased that you should be at the head of the believing women or the head of
this Ummah? I laughed and it was that laughter which you saw.

(R.A) as ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] used to visit her. As we came to
her, she wept. They (Abu Bakr and Umar (R.A)) said to her: What makes you weep?
What is in store (in the next world) for ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] is
better than (this worldly life). She said: I weep not because I am ignorant of
the fact that what is in store for ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] (in the
next world) is better than (this world), but I weep because the revelation
which came from the Heaven has ceased to come. This moved both of them to tears
and they began to weep along with her.

That a garment of silk was presented to ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]. His companions (R.A) touched it and admired its
softness; thereupon he said: Do you admire the softness of this (cloth)? The
handkerchiefs of Sa'd b. Mu'adh (R.A) in Paradise
are better than this.

'Abdullah (R.A) reported:
My father fell as a martyr on the Day of Uhud
and I attempted to uncover his face and weep, but they (the Companions (R.A) of
the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) forbade me to do this, whereas ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] did not forbid me and Fatima bint Amr (R.A), the sister of
my father, was also weeping. Thereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
said: You may weep or you may not weep; the Angels (P.B.U.T) provide him shade
with the help of their wings until you lift him (to be buried in the grave).

That ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] was
there in a battlefield that ALLAH [S.W.T] conferred upon him the spoils of war.
He said to his companions (R.A): Is anyone missing amongst you? They said: So
and so and so. He again said: Is there anyone missing amongst you? They said:
So and so and so. He then said: Is there anyone missing amongst you? They said:
No. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: But I am missing Julaibib
(R.A). They (his companions (R.A)) searched him amongst those who had been
killed and they found him by the side of seven (dead bodies) whom he had killed
and he had been killed (by the opponents). ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]
came there and stood (by his side) and said: He killed seven (persons). Then
(his opponents) killed him. He is mine and I am his. He then placed him upon
his hands and there was none else to lift but ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S].
Then the grave was dug for him and he was placed in the grave and no mention is
made of a bath.

said, and in the version of Abu Bakr (R.A) (the words are): I said: It is Ibn
'Abbas (R.A) (who has done that), whereupon he (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S])
said: May ALLAH [S.W.T] grant him deep understanding of religion.

reported:
I saw in a state of sleep as if I have in my
hand a piece of silk cloth and there is no place in the Paradise where I intend
to reach but that piece of cloth does not fly towards it. I made a mention of
it to Hafsa (R.A) (the sister of Ibn 'Umar (R.A)) and Hafsa (R.A) made a
mention of it to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S], whereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Apostle [S.A.W.S] said: I find 'Abdullah b 'Umar (R.A) a pious person.

Ibn 'Umar (R.A)
reported:
That when a person saw anything in sleep
during the lifetime of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] he narrated it to
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], and I also had a longing that I should
also see in a dream something which I should narrate to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] and I was at that time an unmarried young man. I was sleeping in the Mosque
during the lifetime of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] that I saw in a
dream as if two Angels (P.B.U.T) have taken hold of me and they have carried me
to the fire, and, lo, it was built like the easing of a well and had two
pillars like those of a well; and, lo, there were people in it whom I knew and
I cried out: I seek refuge with ALLAH [S.W.T] from Hell-fire; I seek refuge
with ALLAH [S.W.T] from Hell-fire. Then another Angel (P.B.U.H) joined the two
others, and said unto me: You need not fear I narrated this dream to Hafsa
(R.A) and she narrated it to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], whereupon
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle said: Worthy is this man Abdullah (R.A), O that he
would pray at night, and Salim (R.A) added that Abdullah (R.A) afterwards slept
only but for a small part of the night.

Chapter 35, Book 31: Pertaining To The Merits Of The Companions (R.A) Of The
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 6082:
Abu Huraira
(R.A) reported:
I invited my mother, who was a polytheist, to
Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] which I hated. I came to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] weeping and said: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], I invited my
mother to Islam but she did not accept (my invitation). I invited her today but
she said to me something which I did not like. (Kindly) supplicate ALLAH
[S.W.T] that HE may set the mother of Abu Huraira (R.A) right. Thereupon ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: O ALLAH [S.W.T], set the mother of Abu
Huraira (R.A) on the right path. I came out quite pleased with the supplication
of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] and when I came near the door it was
closed from within. My mother heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: Abu
Huraira (R.A), just wait, and I heard the noise of falling of water. She took a
bath and put on the shirt and quickly covered her head with a headdress and
opened the door and then said: Abu Huraira (R.A), I bear witness to the fact that
there is no god but ALLAH [S.W.T] and Muhammad [S.A.W.S] is HIS bondsman and
HIS Messenger. He (Abu Huraira (R.A)) said: I went back to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Messenger [S.A.W.S] and (this time) I was shedding the tears of joy. I said:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], be happy, for ALLAH [S.W.T] has responded
to your supplication and HE has set on the right path the mother of Abu Huraira
(R.A). He (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) Praised ALLAH [S.W.T], and Extolled HIM
and uttered good words. I said: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], supplicate
to ALLAH [S.W.T] so that HE may instill love of mine and that of my mother too
in the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love,
whereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: O ALLAH [S.W.T], let there
be love of these servants of yours, i.e. Abu Huraira (R.A) and his mother, in
the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the
love of the believing servants. (Abu Huraira (R.A) said: This prayer) was so
well granted by ALLAH [S.W.T] that no believer was ever born who heard of me
and who saw me but did not love me.

Chapter 35, Book 31: Pertaining To The Merits Of The Companions (R.A) Of The
Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 6085:
'A'isha (R.A)
reported:
Don't you feel surprised at Abu Huraira (R.A)?
He came (one day) and sat beside the nook of my apartment and began to narrate
(the hadith of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]). I was hearing while I was
engaged in Extolling ALLAH [S.W.T] (reciting Subhan ALLAH) constantly. He stood
up before I finished my repetition of Subhan ALLAH. If I were to meet him I
would have warned him in stern words that ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
did not speak so quickly as you talk. Ibn Shihab (R.A) transmitted on the authority
of Ibn Musayyib (R.A) that Abu Huraira (R.A) said: People say that Abu Huraira
(R.A) transmits so many ahadith, whereas ALLAH [S.W.T] is the RECKONER, and
they say: How is it with Muhajirs and the Ansar that they do not narrate
ahadith like him (like Abu Huraira (R.A))? Abu Huraira (R.A) said: I tell you
that my brothers from Ansar remained busy with their lands and my brothers
Muhajirs were busy in transactions in the bazars, but I always kept myself
attached to ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] with bare subsistence. I
remained present (in the company of the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]), whereas they
had been absent. I retained in my mind (what the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S] said),
whereas they forgot it. One day ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: He
who amongst you spreads the cloth and listens to my talk and would then press
it against his chest would never forget anything heard from me. So I spread my
mantle and when he had concluded his talk I then pressed it against my chest
and so I never forgot after that day anything that he (the Holy Prophet
[S.A.W.S]) said. And if these two verses would not have been revealed in the
Book I would have never transmitted anything (to anybody): "Those who
conceal the clear evidence and the guidance that WE revealed" (2. 159) tip
to the last verse.

cloth and then partake equally from one vessel. They are from me and I am from
them.

the Ansar. I have no doubt about it.

said: O ALLAH [S.W.T], (bear witness) (and addressing the Ansar), said: You are
dearest to me amongst people, (and said: O ALLAH [S.W.T] (bear witness) (and
addressing the Ansar), said: You are dearest to me amongst people. And he meant
Ansar.

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
The Ansar are my family and my trusted friends. And the people would increase
in number whereas they (the Ansar) would become less and less, so appreciate
the deeds of those from amongst them who do good and overlook their failings.

To the tribe of Aslam ALLAH [S.W.T] has granted safety and to the tribe of

Since I heard three things from ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] my love for Banu Tamim is never on the decline
(and these things are): I heard ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying
about them that they would put up stout resistance against dajjal amongst my
Ummah. And he (the narrator) said: (When) the consignment of Zakat was brought
to him, ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: This is the charity of our
people, and there was one slave-girl in the house of 'A'isha (R.A) and she was
from the tribe of Banu Tamim; thereupon ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
said: Set her free, for she is from the offspring of Isma'il (P.B.U.H). The
other hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Huraira (R.A) with a
slight variation of wording.

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
You would find people like those of mine, the good amongst you in the Days of
Ignorance would be good amongst you in the days of Islam, provided they have an
understanding of it and you will find good amongst people the persons who would
be averse to position of authority until it is thrust upon them, and you will
find the worst amongst persons one who has double face. He comes with one face
to them and with the other face to the others.

Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S], Number 6147:
Abu Burda (R.A)
reported on the authority of his father:
We offered the sunset prayer along with ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]. We then said: If we sit (along with ALLAH
[S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]) and observe night prayer with him it would be
very good, so we sat down and he came to us and said: You are still sitting
here. I said: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S], we observed evening prayer
with you, then we said: Let us sit down and observe night prayer along with
you, whereupon he said: You have done well or you have done right. He then
lifted his head towards the sky and it often happened that as he lifted his
head towards the sky, he said: The stars are a source of security for the sky
and when the stars disappear there comes to the sky, i.e. (it meets the same
fate) as it has been promised (it would plunge into darkness). And I am a source
of safety and security to my companions (R.A) and when I would go away there
would fall to the lot (of my companions (R.A)) as they have been promised with
and my companions (R.A) are a source of security for the Ummah and as they
would go there would fall to the lot of my Ummah as (its people) have been
promised.

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
Do not revile my companions (R.A), do not revile my companions (R.A). By HIM in
WHOSE Hand is my life, if one amongst you would have spent as much gold as Uhud
it would not amount to as much as one much on behalf of one of them or half of
it.

reported:
"We were in the company of Jabir b.
'Abdulldh (R.A) that he said it may happen that the people of Iraq may not send
their qafiz and dirhams (their measures of food stuff and their money). We
said: Who would be responsible for it? He said: The non-Arabs would prevent
them. He again said: There is the possibility that the people of Syria may not
send their dinar and mudd. We said: Who would be responsible for it? He said
this prevention would be made by the Romans. He (Jabir b. Abdullah (R.A)) kept
quiet for a while and then reported: ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] having
said there would be a Caliph in the last (period) of my Ummah who would freely
give handfuls of wealth to the people without counting it. I said to Abu Nadra
and Abu al-'Ala (R.A): Do you mean 'Umar b. 'Abd al-Aziz (R.A)? They said: No
(he would be Imam Mahdi (R.A)).
Sunan Abi Dawud: Chapter 1, Book 38: The Promised Deliverer (Kitab

this time (world) remained, ALLAH [S.W.T] would raise up a man from my family
who would fill this earth with justice as it has been filled with oppression.
Sunan Abi
Dawud: Chapter 1, Book 38: The Promised Deliverer (Kitab Al-Mahdi), Hadith 7:
Narrated Abu
Sa'id al-Khudri (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said: The Mahdi (R.A)
will be of my stock, and will have a broad forehead a prominent nose. He will
fill the earth with equity and justice as it was filled with oppression and
tyranny, and he will rule for seven years.
Sahih Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 93: Oneness, Uniqueness of ALLAH [S.W.T]
(Tawheed), Number 624:
Narrated Ibn
'Umar (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Your stay (in this world) in comparison to the stay of the nations
preceding you, is like the period between 'Asr prayer and the sun set (in
comparison to a whole day). The people of the Torah were given the Torah and
they acted on it till midday and then they were unable to carry on. And they
were given (a reward equal to) one Qirat each. Then the people of the Gospel
were given the Gospel and they acted on it till 'Asr Prayer and then they were
unable to carry on, so they were given a reward equal to) one Qirat each. Then
you were given the Qur'an and you acted on it till sunset, therefore you were
given (a reward equal to) two Qirats each. On that, the people of the
Scriptures said, 'These people (Muslims) did less work than we but they took a
bigger reward.' ALLAH [S.W.T] said (to them). 'Have I done any oppression to
you as regards your rights?' They said, "No." Then ALLAH [S.W.T]
said, 'That is MY Blessing which I grant to whomsoever I Will.'"
"Our LORD, Forgive us and our brothers who preceded us
in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have
believed. Our LORD, indeed YOU are KIND and MERCIFUL."
