[In the Name of ALLAH, the
ENTIRELY MERCIFUL, the ESPECIALLY MERCIFUL]
[Note-
[S.W.T] Subhaanahuu
Wa Ta'ala - [Glorified and Exalted is ALLAH]: This phrase appears after the
Name of ALLAH [S.W.T] its seen as an act of reverence and devotion towards
ALLAH [S.W.T].
[S.A.W.S]
Salla'Allahuu Alayhi Wa-Sallaam – [[May ALLAH Bless Him and grant Him
Peace] [S.A.W.] or [P.B.U.H.] or [S.]]: The expression should be used after
stating Prophet Muhammad [S.A.W.S]'s name.
(A.S) 'Alayhis-Salaam
- [[Peace be upon Him] (P.B.U.H), [Peace be upon Them] (P.B.U.T)]: This
expression should be used after stating the names of the noble Angels (e.g.
Jibraeel, Mikaeel and so on) or Prophets who came before Hadrat Muhammad
[S.A.W.S].
(R.A) Raadiya'Allahu
anhu - [May ALLAH be pleased with him]: When mentioning Sahaba [the
Companions (R.A)] of Hadrat Muhammad [S.A.W.S.], Raadiya'Allahu anhu (for
males/him) and Radiy'Allahu aanha (for females/her) Radiy'Allahu anhuuma (for
them) are used.]
[These are some
selected Day, Night, Month, Moment and Time in Islam in
which a Muslim should seek ALLAH [S.W.T]’s favors (i.e. Forgiveness,
Blessings, Bounty, Fulfillment of any fair wishes) through Remembrance
of ALLAH [S.W.T] and performing Nafil Prayer (Voluntary Prayer).
However, keep in mind it does not mean in others Day, Night, Month, Moment and
Time you cannot seek from ALLAH [S.W.T] HIS favors.
Also, remember
each month has either 29 or 30 days in Islamic calendar or Hijri calendar, but
usually in no discernible order. Traditionally, the first day of each month is
the day [beginning at sunset] of the first sighting of the hilal shortly after
sunset. If the hilal is not observed immediately after the 29th day of a month
[either because clouds block its view or because the western sky is still too
bright when the moon sets], then the day that begins at that sunset is the
30th.]

"Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith
and hoping to attain ALLAH [S.W.T]'s rewards (not to show off) then all his
past sins will be forgiven."

ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said:

bin Al-Khattab (R.A):
Once a Jew said to me, "O the chief of
believers! There is a verse in your Holy Book, which is read by all of you
(Muslims), and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken that day (on
which it was revealed as a day of celebration." 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (R.A)
asked, "Which is that verse?" The Jew replied, "This day I have
perfected your religion for you, completed MY favor upon you, And have chosen
for you Islam as your religion." (5:3) 'Umar (R.A) replied, "No
doubt, we know when and where this verse was revealed to The Prophet [S.A.W.S].
It was Friday and The Prophet [S.A.W.S] was standing at 'Arafat (i.e. the Day
of Hajj)"

Narrated Abu
Dhar (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"While I was at Mecca the roof of my house was opened and
Gabriel (P.B.U.H) descended, opened my chest, and washed it with Zam-zam water.
Then he brought a golden tray full of wisdom and faith and having poured its
contents into my chest, he closed it. Then he took my hand and ascended with me
to the nearest heaven, when I reached the nearest heaven, Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
said to the gatekeeper (P.B.U.H) of the heaven, 'Open (the gate).' The
gatekeeper (P.B.U.H) asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) answered: 'Gabriel
(P.B.U.H).' He asked, 'Is there anyone with you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied,
'Yes, Muhammad [S.A.W.S] is with me.' He asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) said, 'Yes.' So the gate was opened and we went over the nearest
heaven and there we saw a man sitting with some people on his right and some on
his left. When he looked towards his right, he laughed and when he looked
toward his left he wept. Then he said, 'Welcome! O pious Prophet and pious son.'
I asked Gabriel (P.B.U.H), 'Who is he?' He replied, 'He is Adam (P.B.U.H) and
the people on his right and left are the souls of his offspring. Those on his
right are the people of Paradise and those on his left are the people
of Hell and when he looks towards his right he laughs and when he looks towards
his left he weeps.' Then he ascended with me till he reached the second heaven
and he (Gabriel (P.B.U.H)) said to its gatekeeper (P.B.U.H), 'Open (the gate).'
The gatekeeper (P.B.U.H) said to him the same as the gatekeeper (P.B.U.H) of
the first heaven had said and he opened the gate. Anas (R.A) said: "Abu
Dhar (R.A) added that the Prophet [S.A.W.S] met Adam, Idris, Moses, Jesus and
Abraham (P.B.U.T), he (Abu Dhar (R.A)) did not mention on which heaven they
were but he mentioned that he (the Prophet [S.A.W.S]) met Adam (P.B.U.H) on the
nearest heaven and Abraham (P.B.U.H) on the sixth heaven. Anas (R.A) said,
"When Gabriel (P.B.U.H) along with the Prophet [S.A.W.S] passed by Idris
(P.B.U.H), the latter said, 'Welcome! O pious Prophet and pious brother.' The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] asked, 'Who is he?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'He is Idris
(P.B.U.H)." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] added, "I passed by Moses (P.B.U.H)
and he said, 'Welcome! O pious Prophet and pious brother.' I asked Gabriel
(P.B.U.H), 'Who is he?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'He is Moses (P.B.U.H).'
Then I passed by Jesus (P.B.U.H) and he said, 'Welcome! O pious brother and
pious Prophet.' I asked, 'Who is he?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'He is Jesus
(P.B.U.H). Then I passed by Abraham (P.B.U.H) and he said, 'Welcome! O pious
Prophet and pious son.' I asked Gabriel (P.B.U.H), 'Who is he?' Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) replied, 'He is Abraham (P.B.U.H). The Prophet [S.A.W.S] added, 'Then
Gabriel (P.B.U.H) ascended with me to a place where I heard the creaking of the
pens." Ibn Hazm and Anas bin Malik (R.A) said: The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said,
"Then ALLAH [S.W.T] enjoined fifty prayers on my followers when I returned
with this order of ALLAH [S.W.T], I passed by Moses (P.B.U.H) who asked me,
'What has ALLAH [S.W.T] enjoined on your followers?' I replied, 'He has
enjoined fifty prayers on them.' Moses (P.B.U.H) said, 'Go back to your LORD
(and appeal for reduction) for your followers will not be able to bear it.' (So
I went back to ALLAH [S.W.T] and requested for reduction) and HE reduced it to
half. When I passed by Moses (P.B.U.H) again and informed him about it, he
said, 'Go back to your LORD as your followers will not be able to bear it.' So
I returned to ALLAH [S.W.T] and requested for further reduction and half of it
was reduced. I again passed by Moses (P.B.U.H) and he said to me: 'Return to
your LORD, for your followers will not be able to bear it. So I returned to
ALLAH [S.W.T] and HE said, 'These are five prayers and they are all (equal to)
fifty (in reward) for MY Word does not change.' I returned to Moses (P.B.U.H)
and he told me to go back once again. I replied, 'Now I feel shy of asking my
LORD again.' Then Gabriel (P.B.U.H) took me till we '' reached Sidrat-il-Muntaha
(Lote tree of; the utmost boundary) which was shrouded in colors,
indescribable. Then I was admitted into Paradise where I found small
(tents or) walls (made) of pearls and its earth was of musk."

Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 12: Characteristics of Prayer, Number 777:
Narrated Abu
Salama (R.A):
Once I went to Abu- Sa'id Al-Khudri (R.A) and
asked him, "Won't you come with us to the date-palm trees to have a
talk?" So Abu Said (R.A) went out and I asked him, "Tell me what you
heard from The Prophet [S.A.W.S] about the Night of Qadr." Abu Said (R.A)
replied, "Once ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] performed I'tikaf
(seclusion) on the first ten days of the month of Ramadan and we did the same
with him. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) came to him and said, 'The night you are looking
for is ahead of you.' So the Prophet [S.A.W.S] performed the I'tikaf in the
middle (second) ten days of the month of Ramadan and we too performed I'tikaf
with him. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) came to him and said, 'The night which you are
looking for is ahead of you.' In the morning of the 20th of Ramadan the Prophet
[S.A.W.S] delivered a sermon saying, 'Whoever has performed I'tikaf with me
should continue it. I have been shown the Night of "Qadr", but have
forgotten its date, but it is in the odd nights of the last ten nights. I saw
in my dream that I was prostrating in mud and water.' In those days the roof of
the Mosque was made of branches of date-palm trees. At that time the sky was
clear and no cloud was visible, but suddenly a cloud came and it rained. The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] led us in the prayer and I saw the traces of mud on the
forehead and on the nose of ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S]. So it was the
confirmation of that dream."

Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 13: Friday Prayer, Number 6:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Any person who takes a bath on Friday like the bath of Janaba and then
goes for the prayer (in the first hour i.e. early), it is as if he had
sacrificed a camel (in ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Cause); and whoever goes in the second
hour it is as if he had sacrificed a cow; and whoever goes in the third hour,
then it is as if he had sacrificed a horned ram; and if one goes in the fourth
hour, then it is as if he had sacrificed a hen; and whoever goes in the fifth
hour then it is as if he had offered an egg. When the Imam comes out (i.e.
starts delivering the Khutba), the Angels (P.B.U.T) present themselves to
listen to the Khutba."

Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 13: Friday Prayer, Number 21:
Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said
"We are the last (to come amongst the nations) but (will be) the foremost
on the Day of Resurrection. They were given the Holy Scripture before us and we
were given the Qur’an after them. And this was the day (Friday) about which
they differed and ALLAH [S.W.T] gave us the guidance (for that). So tomorrow
(i.e. Saturday) is the Jews' (day), and the day after tomorrow (i.e. Sunday) is
the Christians'." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] remained silent (for a while) and
then said, "It is obligatory for every Muslim that he should take a bath
once in seven days, when he should wash his head and body." Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A) through different narrators that the Prophet [S.A.W.S] said,
"It is ALLAH [S.W.T]'s right on every Muslim that he should take a bath
(at least) once in seven days."

Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 13: Friday Prayer, Number 51:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "When it is a
Friday, the Angels (P.B.U.T) stand at the gate of the Mosque and keep on
writing the names of the persons coming to the Mosque in succession according
to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the Mosque in the earliest
hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like
one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg
respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. Angels
(P.B.U.T)) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."

Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to
keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act."

Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] talked about
Friday and said, "There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a
Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from ALLAH [S.W.T], then ALLAH
[S.W.T] will definitely meet his demand." And he (the Prophet [S.A.W.S])
pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.

"None of you should fast on Friday unless he fasts a day before or after

Narrated Abu
Said Al-Khudri (R.A) (who fought in twelve Ghazawat in the company of the
Prophet [S.A.W.S]):
I heard four things from the Prophet [S.A.W.S]
and they won my admiration. He said:
1. "No lady
should travel on a journey of two days except with her husband or a
Dhi-Mahram";
2. "No
fasting is permissible on the two days of Id-ul-Fitr and 'Id-ul-Adha";
3. "No
prayer (may be offered) after the morning compulsory prayer until the sun
rises; and no prayer after the 'Asr prayer till the sun sets";
4. "One
should travel only for visiting three Masjid (Mosques): Masjid-ul-Haram
(Mecca), Masjid-ul-Aqsa (Jerusalem), and this (my) Mosque (at Medina)".

Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 31: Fasting, Number 224:
Narrated Ibn
'Abbas (R.A):
I never saw the Prophet [S.A.W.S] seeking to
fast on a day more (preferable to him) than this day, the day of 'Ashura', or
this month, i.e. the month of Ramadan.

Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 32: Praying at Night in Ramadaan (Taraweeh), Number
232:
Narrated Ibn
'Umar (R.A):
Some men amongst the Companions (R.A) of the
Prophet [S.A.W.S] were shown in their dreams that the night of Qadr was in the
last seven nights of Ramadan. ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, "It
seems that all your dreams agree that (the Night of Qadr) is in the last seven
nights, and whoever wants to search for it (i.e. the Night of Qadr) should
search in the last seven (nights of Ramadan)."

Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 32: Praying at Night in Ramadaan (Taraweeh), Number
238:
Narrated Ibn
Abbas (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Look for the
Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan,' on the night when nine or
seven or five nights remain out of the last ten nights of Ramadan (i.e. 21, 23,
25, respectively)."

Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54: Beginning of Creation, Number 446:
Narrated Abu
Huraira (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Angels
(P.B.U.T) keep on descending from and ascending to the Heaven in turn, some at
night and some by daytime, and all of them assemble together at the time of the
Fajr and 'Asr prayers. Then those who have stayed with you over-night, ascent
unto ALLAH [S.W.T] WHO asks them, and HE knows the answer better than they,
"How have you left MY slaves?" They reply, "We have left them
praying as we found them praying." If anyone of you says "Aameen"
(during the Prayer at the end of the recitation of Surat-al-Faitiha), and the
Angels (P.B.U.T) in Heaven say the same, and the two sayings coincide, all his
past sins will be Forgiven."

Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54: Beginning of Creation, Number 462:
Narrated Ibn
Abbas (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "On the night
of my Ascent to the Heaven, I saw Moses (P.B.U.H) who was a tall brown
curly-haired man as if he was one of the men of Shan'awa tribe, and I saw Jesus
(P.B.U.H), a man of medium height and moderate complexion inclined to the red
and white colors and of lank hair. I also saw Malik (P.B.U.H), the gate-keeper
of the (Hell) Fire and Ad-dajjal amongst the signs which ALLAH [S.W.T] showed
me." (The Prophet [S.A.W.S] then recited the Holy Verse): "So be not
you in doubt of meeting him' when you met Moses during the night of Mi'raj over
the heavens" (32.23) Narrated Anas and Abu Bakr (R.A): "The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] said, "The Angels (P.B.U.T) will guard Medina from Ad-dajjal
(who will not be able to enter the city of Medina)."

bin 'Abdullah (R.A):
That he heard ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S] saying, "When the people of Quraish did not believe me (i.e. the
story of my Night Journey), I stood up in Al-Hijr and ALLAH [S.W.T] displayed
Jerusalem in front of me, and I began describing it to them while I was looking
at it."

Narrated Abbas
bin Malik (R.A):
Malik bin Sasaa (R.A) said that ALLAH
[S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] described to them his Night Journey saying,
"While I was lying in Al-Hatim or Al-Hijr, suddenly someone came to me and
cut my body open from here to here." I asked Al-Jarud (R.A) who was by my
side, "What does he mean?" He said, "It means from his throat to
his pubic area," or said, "From the top of the chest." The
Prophet [S.A.W.S] further said, "He then took out my heart. Then a gold
tray of Belief was brought to me and my heart was washed and was filled (with
Belief) and then returned to its original place. Then a white animal which was
smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me." (On this
Al-Jarud (R.A) asked, "Was it the Buraq, O Abu Hamza (R.A)?" I (i.e.
Anas (R.A)) replied in the affirmative). The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "The
animal's step (was so wide that it) reached the farthest point within the reach
of the animal's sight. I was carried on it, and Gabriel (P.B.U.H) set out with
me till we reached the nearest heaven. When he asked for the gate to be opened,
it was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) answered, 'Gabriel (P.B.U.H).' It
was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Muhammad
[S.A.W.S].' It was asked, 'Has Muhammad [S.A.W.S] been called?' Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What
an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened, and when I went over the first
heaven, I saw Adam (P.B.U.H) there. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said (to me). 'This is
your father, Adam (P.B.U.H); pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned
the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious son and pious Prophet.'
Then Gabriel (P.B.U.H) ascended with me till we reached the second heaven.
Gabriel (P.B.U.H) asked for the gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?'
Gabriel (P.B.U.H) answered, 'Gabriel (P.B.U.H).' It was asked, 'Who is
accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Muhammad [S.A.W.S].' It was
asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) answered in the affirmative.
Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!' The gate
was opened. When I went over the second heaven, there I saw Yahya (i.e. John)
and 'Isa (i.e. Jesus) (P.B.U.T) who were cousins of each other. Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) said (to me), 'These are John and Jesus (P.B.U.T); pay them your greetings.'
So I greeted them and both of them returned my greetings to me and said, 'You
are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
ascended with me to the third heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It
was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Gabriel (P.B.U.H).' It was
asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Muhammad
[S.A.W.S].' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied in
the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his
is!' The gate was opened, and when I went over the third heaven there I saw
Joseph (P.B.U.H). Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said (to me), 'This is Joseph (P.B.U.H);
pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me
and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) ascended with me to the fourth heaven and asked for its gate to be
opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Gabriel
(P.B.U.H)' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied,
'Muhammad [S.A.W.S].' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
replied in the affirmative. Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an
excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened, and when I went over the fourth
heaven, there I saw Idris (P.B.U.H). Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said (to me), 'This is
Idris (P.B.U.H); pay him your greetings.' So I greeted him and he returned the
greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.'
Then Gabriel (P.B.U.H) ascended with me to the fifth heaven and asked for its
gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied,
'Gabriel (P.B.U.H).' It was asked. 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
replied, 'Muhammad [S.A.W.S].' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) replied in the affirmative. Then it was said 'He is welcomed, what an
excellent visit his is!' So when I went over the fifth heaven, there I saw
Harun (i.e. Aaron) (P.B.U.H), Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said, (to me). This is Aaron
(P.B.U.H); pay him your greetings.' I greeted him and he returned the greeting
to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' Then
Gabriel (P.B.U.H) ascended with me to the sixth heaven and asked for its gate
to be opened. It was asked. 'Who is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Gabriel
(P.B.U.H).' It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied,
'Muhammad [S.A.W.S].' It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
replied in the affirmative. It was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent
visit his is!' When I went (over the sixth heaven), there I saw Moses
(P.B.U.H). Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said (to me),' This is Moses (P.B.U.H); pay him
your greeting. So I greeted him and he returned the greetings to me and said,
'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.' When I left him (i.e.
Moses (P.B.U.H)) he wept. Someone asked him, 'What makes you weep?' Moses
(P.B.U.H) said, 'I weep because after me there has been sent (as Prophet) a
young man whose followers will enter Paradise
in greater numbers than my followers.' Then Gabriel (P.B.U.H) ascended with me
to the seventh heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who
is it?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Gabriel (P.B.U.H).' It was asked,' Who is
accompanying you?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied, 'Muhammad [S.A.W.S].' It was
asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied in the affirmative. Then
it was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!' So when I went
(over the seventh heaven), there I saw Abraham (P.B.U.H). Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
said (to me), 'This is your father; pay your greetings to him.' So I greeted
him and he returned the greetings to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious
son and pious Prophet.' Then I was made to ascend to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha (i.e.
the Lote Tree of the utmost boundary) Behold! Its fruits were like the jars of
Hajr (i.e. a place near Medina) and its leaves were as big as the ears of
elephants. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said, 'This is the Lote Tree of the utmost
boundary). Behold! There ran four rivers, two were hidden and two were visible,
I asked, 'What are these two kinds of rivers, O Gabriel (P.B.U.H)?' He
replied,' As for the hidden rivers, they are two rivers in Paradise and the
visible rivers are the Nile and the Euphrates.' Then Al-Bait-ul-Ma'mur (i.e.
the Sacred House) was shown to me and a container full of wine and another full
of milk and a third full of honey were brought to me. I took the milk. Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) remarked, 'This is the Islamic religion which you and your followers
are following.' Then the prayers were enjoined on me: They were fifty prayers a
day. When I returned, I passed by Moses (P.B.U.H) who asked (me), 'What have
you been ordered to do?' I replied, 'I have been ordered to offer fifty prayers
a day.' Moses (P.B.U.H) said, 'Your followers cannot bear fifty prayers a day,
and by ALLAH [S.W.T], I have tested people before you, and I have tried my
level best with Bani Israel (in vain). Go back to your LORD and ask for
reduction to lessen your followers' burden.' So I went back, and ALLAH [S.W.T]
reduced ten prayers for me. Then again I came to Moses (P.B.U.H), but he
repeated the same as he had said before. Then again I went back to ALLAH
[S.W.T] and HE reduced ten more prayers. When I came back to Moses (P.B.U.H) he
said the same, I went back to ALLAH [S.W.T] and HE ordered me to observe ten
prayers a day. When I came back to Moses (P.B.U.H), he repeated the same
advice, so I went back to ALLAH [S.W.T] and was ordered to observe five prayers
a day. When I came back to Moses (P.B.U.H), he said, 'What have you been
ordered?' I replied, 'I have been ordered to observe five prayers a day.' He
said, 'Your followers cannot bear five prayers a day, and no doubt, I have got an
experience of the people before you, and I have tried my level best with Bani
Israel, so go back to your LORD and ask for reduction to lessen your follower's
burden.' I said, 'I have requested so much of my LORD that I feel ashamed, but
I am satisfied now and surrender to ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Order.' When I left, I
heard a voice saying, 'I have passed MY Order and have lessened the burden of
MY worshipers."

On the day of Al-Khandaq (i.e. Trench), the
Prophet [S.A.W.S] said '(Let) ALLAH [S.W.T] fill their (i.e. the infidels')
houses and graves with fire just as they have prevented us from offering the
Middle Prayer (i.e. 'Asr prayer) till the sun had set."

ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] was
presented with two cups one containing wine and the other milk on the night of
his night journey at Jerusalem. He looked at it and took the milk. Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) said, "Thanks to ALLAH [S.W.T] WHO guided you to the Fitra (i.e.
Islam); if you had taken the wine, your followers would have gone astray.

Narrated Masruq
(R.A):
I said to 'Aisha (R.A), "O Mother! Did
Prophet Muhammad [S.A.W.S] see his LORD?" Aisha (R.A) said, "What you
have said makes my hair stand on end! Know that if somebody tells you one of
the following three things, he is a liar: Whoever tells you that Muhammad
[S.A.W.S] saw his LORD, is a liar." Then Aisha (R.A) recited the Verse:
'No vision can grasp HIM, but HIS grasp is over all vision. HE is the MOST
COURTEOUS, WELL-AQUAINTED with all things.' (6.103) 'It is not fitting for a
human being that ALLAH should speak to him except by inspiration or from behind
a veil.' (42.51) 'Aisha (R.A) further said, "And whoever tells you that
the Prophet [S.A.W.S] knows what is going to happen tomorrow, is a liar."
She then recited: 'No soul can know what it will earn tomorrow.' (31.14) She
added: "And whoever tell you that he concealed (some of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
orders), is a liar." Then she recited: 'O Apostle! Proclaim (the Message)
which has been sent down to you from your LORD..' (5.67) 'Aisha (R.A) added.
"But the Prophet [S.A.W.S] saw Gabriel (P.B.U.H) in his true form
twice."

Regarding the Verses: 'And was at a distance
of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; So did (ALLAH [S.W.T]) convey the
Inspiration to HIS slave (Gabriel) and then he (Gabriel) conveyed (that to
Muhammad...' (53.9-10) Ibn Mas'ud (R.A) narrated to us that the Prophet
[S.A.W.S] had seen Gabriel (P.B.U.H) with six hundred wings.

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said: "While I was
walking in Paradise (on the night of Mi'raj), I saw a river, on the two banks
of which there were tents made of hollow pearls. I asked, "What is this, O
Gabriel (P.B.U.H)?' He said, 'That is the Kauthar which Your LORD has given to
you.' Behold! Its scent or its mud was sharp smelling musk!" (The
sub-narrator, Hudba (R.A) is in doubt as to the correct expression.)

'Abbas (R.A):
(Regarding the Verse) "And WE granted the
vision (Ascension to the heavens "Miraj") which WE showed you (O
Muhammad as an actual eye witness) but as a trial for mankind.' (17.60): ALLAH
[S.W.T]'s Apostle [S.A.W.S] actually saw with his own eyes the vision (all the
things which were shown to him) on the night of his Night Journey to Jerusalem
(and then to the heavens). The cursed tree which is mentioned in the Qur'an is
the tree of Az-Zaqqum.

Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 93: Oneness, Uniqueness of ALLAH [S.W.T] (Tawheed),
Number 539:
Narrated Abu
Bakr (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Time has
come back to its original state which it had when ALLAH [S.W.T] Created the
Heavens and the Earth, the year is twelve months, of which four are sacred;
(and out of these four) three are in succession, namely, Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul-Hijja
and Muharram, and (the fourth one) Rajab Mudar which is between Jumad
(Ath-Tham) and Sha'ban." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] then asked us, "Which
month is this?" We said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S]
know (it) better." He kept quiet so long that we thought he might call it
by another name. Then he said, "Isn't it Dhul-Hijja?" We said,
"Yes." He asked "What town is this?" We said, "ALLAH
[S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S] know (it) better.' Then he kept quiet so long
that we thought he might call it by another name. He then said, "Isn't it
the (forbidden) Town (Mecca)?" We said, "Yes." He asked,
"What is the day today?" We said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle
[S.A.W.S] know (it) better. Then he kept quiet so long that we thought that he
might call it by another name. Then he said, "Isn't it the Day of An-Nahr
(slaughtering of sacrifices)?" We said, "Yes." Then he said,
"Your blood (lives), your properties," (the sub narrator Muhammad
(R.A), said: I think he also said): "..and your honor) are as sacred to
one another like the sanctity of this Day of yours, in this Town of yours, in
this Month of yours. You shall meet your LORD and HE will ask you about your
deeds. Beware! Don't go astray after me by striking the necks of one another.
Lo! It is incumbent upon those who are present to inform it to those who are
absent for perhaps the informed one might comprehend it (understand it) better
than some of the present audience." Whenever the sub-narrator Muhammad
(R.A) mentioned that statement, he would say, "The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said
the truth.") And then the Prophet [S.A.W.S] added, "No doubt! Haven't
I conveyed ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Message to you! No doubt! Haven't I conveyed ALLAH [S.W.T]’s
Message to you?"

Huraira (R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"Every night when it is the last third of the night, our LORD, the
SUPERIOR, the BLESSED, descends to the nearest heaven and says: Is there anyone
to invoke ME that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask ME so
that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone asking MY Forgiveness so that
I may Forgive him?"
Sahih Muslim, Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0309:
It is narrated
on the authority of Anas b. Malik (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: I was brought al-Buraq; Who is an animal white and long, larger than a
donkey but smaller than a mule, who would place his hoof a distance equal to
the range of vision. I mounted it and came to the Temple (Bait Maqdis in
Jerusalem), then tethered it to the ring used by the Prophets (P.B.U.T). I
entered the Mosque and prayed two rak'ahs in it, and then came out and Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) brought me a vessel of wine and a vessel of milk. I chose the milk,
and Gabriel (P.B.U.H) said: You have chosen the natural thing. Then he took me
to heaven. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) then asked the (gate of heaven) to be opened and
he was asked who he was. He replied: Gabriel (P.B.U.H). He was again asked: Who
is with you? He (Gabriel (P.B.U.H)) said: Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has
he been sent for? Gabriel (P.B.U.H) replied: He has indeed been sent for. And
(the door of the heaven) was opened for us, and Lo! We saw Adam (P.B.U.H). He
welcomed me and prayed for my good. Then we ascended to the second heaven.
Gabriel (P.B.U.H) (asked the door of heaven to be opened), and he was asked who
he was. He answered: Gabriel (P.B.U.H); and was again asked: Who is with you?
He replied: Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied:
He has indeed been sent for. The gate was opened. When I entered 'Isa b. Maryam
and Yahya b. Zakariya (P.B.U.T), cousins from the maternal side, welcomed me
and prayed for my good. Then I was taken to the third heaven and Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) asked for the opening (of the door). He was asked: Who are you? He
replied: Gabriel (P.B.U.H). He was (again) asked: Who is with you? He replied
Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied He has indeed
been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and I saw Yusuf (P.B.U.H) who had
been given half of (world) beauty. He welcomed me prayed for my well-being. Then
he ascended with us to the fourth heaven. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) asked for the
(gate) to be opened, and it was said: Who is he? He replied: Gabriel (P.B.U.H).
It was (again) said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said:
Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been sent for. The (gate) was
opened for us, and Lo! Idris (P.B.U.H) was there. He welcomed me and prayed for
my well-being (About him) ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and the GLORIOUS, has
said: "WE elevated him (Idris (P.B.U.H)) to the exalted position"
(Qur'an 29. 57). Then he ascended with us to the fifth heaven and Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) asked for the (gate) to be opened. It was said: Who is he? He replied
Gabriel (P.B.U.H). It was (again) said: Who is with thee? He replied: Muhammad
[S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied: He has indeed been
sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and then I was with Harun (Aaron
(P.B.U.H)). He welcomed me prayed for my well-being. Then I was taken to the
sixth heaven. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) asked for the door to be opened. It was said:
Who is he? He replied: Gabriel (P.B.U.H). It was said: Who is with thee? He
replied: Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied: He
has indeed been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and there I was with
Moses (P.B.U.H). He welcomed me and prayed for my well-being. Then I was taken
up to the seventh heaven. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) asked the (gate) to be opened. It
was said: Who is he? He said: Gabriel (P.B.U.H). It was said. Who is with thee?
He replied: Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has he been sent for? He replied:
He has indeed been sent for. (The gate) was opened for us and there I found
Ibrahim (P.B.U.H) reclining against the Bait-ul-Ma'mur and there enter into it
seventy thousand Angels (P.B.U.T) every day, never to visit (this place) again.
Then I was taken to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha whose leaves were like elephant ears and
its fruit like big earthenware vessels. And when it was covered by the Command
of ALLAH [S.W.T], it underwent such a change that none amongst the Creation has
the power to praise its beauty. Then ALLAH [S.W.T] revealed to me a revelation
and HE made obligatory for me fifty prayers every day and night. Then I went
down to Moses (P.B.U.H) and he said: What has your LORD enjoined upon your
Ummah? I said: Fifty prayers. He said: Return to thy LORD and beg for reduction
(in the number of prayers), for your community shall not be able to bear this
burden as I have put to test the children of Isra'il and tried them (and found them
too weak to bear such a heavy burden). He (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: I
went back to my LORD and said: My LORD, make things lighter for my Ummah. (The
LORD) reduced five prayers for me. I went down to Moses (P.B.U.H) and said.
(The LORD) reduced five (prayers) for me, He said: Verily thy Ummah shall not
be able to bear this burden; return to thy LORD and ask HIM to make things
lighter. I then kept going back and forth between my LORD BLESSED and EXALTED,
and Moses (P.B.U.H), till HE said: There are five prayers every day and night.
O Muhammad [S.A.W.S], each being credited as ten, so that makes fifty prayers.
He who intends to do a good deed and does not do it will have a good deed
recorded for him; and if he does it, it will be recorded for him as ten;
whereas he who intends to do an evil deed and does not do, it will not be
recorded for him; and if he does it, only one evil deed will be recorded. I
then came down and when I came to Moses (P.B.U.H) and informed him, he said: Go
back to thy LORD and ask HIM to make things lighter. Upon this the Messenger of
ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] remarked: I returned to my LORD until I felt ashamed
before HIM.

Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0310:
It is narrated
on the authority of Anas b. Malik (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: (the Angels (P.B.U.T)) came to me and took me to the Zamzam and my heart
was opened and washed with the water of Zamzam and then I was left (at my
place).

Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0314:
Anas b. Malik
(R.A) reported on the authority of Malik b. Sa sa' (R.A), perhaps a person of
his tribe:
That the Prophet of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: I was near the House (i.e. Ka'bah) in a state between sleep and
wakefulness when I heard someone say: He is the third among the two persons.
Then he came to me and took me with him. Then a golden basin containing the
water of Zamzam was brought to me and my heart was opened up to such and such
(part). Qatada (R.A) said: I asked him who was with me (i.e. the narrator) and
what he meant by such and such (part). He replied: (It means that it was
opened) up to the lower part of his abdomen (Then the Hadith continues): My
heart was extracted and it was washed with the water of Zamzam and then it was
restored in its original position, after which it was filled with faith and
wisdom. I was then brought a white beast which is called al-Buraq, bigger than
a donkey and smaller than a mule. Its stride was as long as the eye could
reach. I was mounted on it, and then we went forth till we reached the lowest
heaven. Gabriel (P.B.U.H) asked for the (gate) to be opened, and it was said:
Who is he? He replied: Gabriel (P.B.U.H). It was again said: Who is with thee?
He replied: Muhammad [S.A.W.S]. It was said: Has he been sent for? He (Gabriel
(P.B.U.H)) said: Yes. He (the Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Then (the gate) was
opened for us (and it was said): Welcome unto him! His is a blessed arrival.
Then we came to Adam (P.B.U.H). And he (the narrator) narrated the whole
account of the Hadith. (The Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) observed that he met Jesus
(P.B.U.H) in the second heaven, Yahya (P.B.U.H) in the third heaven, Yusuf
(P.B.U.H) in the third, Idris (P.B.U.H) in the fourth, Harun (P.B.U.H) in the
fifth (P.B.U.H). Then we traveled on till we reached the sixth heaven and came
to Moses (P.B.U.H) and I greeted him and he said: Welcome unto righteous
brother and righteous Prophet. And when I passed (by him) he wept, and a voice
was heard saying: What makes thee weep? He said: My LORD, he is a young man
whom THOU hast sent after me (as a Prophet) and his followers will enter Paradise in greater numbers than my followers. Then we
traveled on till we reached the seventh heaven and I came to Ibrahim (P.B.U.H).
He (the narrator) narrated in this Hadith that the Prophet of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] told that he saw four rivers which flowed from (the root of the
lote-tree of the farthest limits): two manifest rivers and two hidden rivers. I
said: Gabriel (P.B.U.H)! What are these rivers? He replied: The two hidden
rivers are the rivers of Paradise, and as regards the two manifest ones, they
are the Nile and the Euphrates. Then the
Bait-ul-Ma'mur was raised up to me. I said: O Gabriel (P.B.U.H)! What is this?
He replied: It is the Bait-ul-Ma'mur. Seventy thousand Angels (P.B.U.T) enter
into it daily and, after they come out, they never return again. Two vessels
were then brought to me. The first one contained wine and the second one
contained milk, and both of them were placed before me. I chose milk. It was
said: You did right. ALLAH [S.W.T] will guide rightly through you your Ummah on
the natural course. Then fifty prayers daily were made obligatory for me. And
then he narrated the rest of the Hadith to the end.

Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0315:
It is reported
on the authority of Malik b. Sa'sa' (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
narrated the Hadith (mentioned above) and added to it: I was brought a gold basin
full of wisdom and faith, and then the (part of the body) right from the upper
end of the chest to the lower part of the abdomen was opened and it was washed
with the water of Zamzam and then filled with wisdom and faith.

Qatada (R.A)
reported:
That he heard Abu al-'Aliya (R.A) saying that
the cousin of your Prophet [S.A.W.S], (i.e. Ibn Abbas (R.A)), told him: The
Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], while narrating his night journey
observed: Moses (P.B.U.H) was a man of high stature as if he was of the people
of the Shanu'a (tribe), and Jesus (P.B.U.H) was a well built person having
curly hair. He also mentioned Malik (P.B.U.H), the guardian of Hell, and
dajjal.

Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0317:
Abu al-'Aliya
(R.A) reported:
Ibn Abbas (R.A), the son of your Prophet
[S.A.W.S]'s uncle, told us that the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] had
observed: On the night of my night journey I passed by Moses b. 'Imran
(P.B.U.H), a man light brown in complexion, tall, well built as if he was one
of the men of the Shanu'a, and saw Jesus son of Mary (P.B.U.T) as a medium
stature man with white and red complexion and crisp hair, and I was shown Malik
(P.B.U.H) the guardian of Fire, and dajjal amongst the signs which were shown
to me by ALLAH [S.W.T]. He (the narrator) observed: Then do not doubt his (i.e.
of the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) meeting with him (Moses (P.B.U.H)). Qatada (R.A)
elucidated it thus: Verily the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], met Moses
(P.B.U.H).

Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0321:
It is narrated
on the authority of Jabir (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: There appeared before me the Apostles (P.B.U.T), and Moses (P.B.U.H) was
among men as if he was one of the people of Shanu'a, and I saw Jesus son of
Mary (P.B.U.T) and I saw nearest in resemblance with him was 'Urwa b. Mas'ud
(R.A), and I saw Ibrahim (P.B.U.H) and I see your companions [S.A.W.S] much in
resemblance with him, (i.e. his personality), and I saw Gabriel (P.B.U.H) and I
saw Dihya (R.A) nearest in resemblance to him; but in the narration of Ibn Rumh
(R.A) it is Dihya b. Khalifa (R.A).

Chapter 75, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0322:
It is narrated
on the authority of Abu Huraira (R.A):
That the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: When I was taken for the night journey I met Moses (P.B.U.H). The Apostle
of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] gave his description thus: He was a man, I suppose
and he (the narrator) was somewhat doubtful (that the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]
observed): (Moses (P.B.U.H) was a man erect in stature with straight hair on
his head as it he was one of the men of the Shanu'a; and I met Jesus (P.B.U.H)
and the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] described him as one having a medium
stature and a red complexion as if he had (just) come out of the bath. He
observed: I saw Ibrahim (P.B.U.H) and amongst his children I have the greatest
resemblance with him. He said: There were brought to me two vessels. In one of
them was milk and in the other one there was wine. And it was said to me:
Select any one you like. So I selected the vessel containing milk and drank it.
He (the Angel (P.B.U.H)) said: You have been guided on al-fitra or you have
attained al-fitra. Had you selected wine, your Ummah would have been misled.

Chapter 76, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0328:
It is narrated
on the authority of Abu Huraira (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: I found myself in Hijr and the Quraish were asking me about my night
journey. I was asked about things pertaining to Bait-ul-Maqdis which I could
not preserve (in my mind). I was very much vexed, so vexed as I had never been
before. Then ALLAH [S.W.T] raised it (Bait-ul-Maqdis) before my eyes. I looked
towards it, and I gave them the information about whatever they questioned me I
also saw myself among the group of Apostles (P.B.U.T). I saw Moses (P.B.U.H) saying
prayer and found him to be a well built man as if he was a man of the tribe of
Shanu’a. I saw Jesus son of Mary (P.B.U.T) offering prayer, of all of men he
had the closest resemblance with ‘Urwa b. Masu’d al-Thaqafi (R.A). I saw
Ibrahim (P.B.U.H) offering prayer; he
had the closest resemblance with your companion (the Prophet [S.A.W.S] himself)
amongst people. When the time of prayer came I led them. When I completed the
prayer, someone said: Here is Malik (P.B.U.H), the keeper of the Hell; pay him salutations.
I turned to him, but he preceded me in salutation.

Chapter 77, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0329:
It is narrated
on the authority of Abdullah (b. Umar) (R.A):
That when the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] was taken for the Night Journey, he was taken to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha,
which is situated on the sixth heaven, where terminates everything that ascends
from the earth and is held there, and where terminates everything that descends
from above it and is held there. (It is with reference to this that) ALLAH
[S.W.T] said: "When that which covers covered the lote-tree"
(al-Qur’an, 53.16). He (the narrator) said: (It was) gold moths. He (the
narrator further) said: The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] was given
three (things): he was given five prayers, he was given the concluding verses
of Sura al-Baqara, and remission of serious Sins for those among his Ummah who
associate not anything with ALLAH [S.W.T].

Al-Shaibini
(R.A) reported to us:
I asked Zirr b. Hubaish (R.A) about the words
of ALLAH [S.W.T] (the MIGHTY and GREAT): "So he was (at a distance) of two
bows or nearer" (al-Qur’an, 53.8). He said: Ibn Mas’ud (R.A) informed me
that, verily, the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] saw Gabriel (P.B.U.H) and
he had six hundred wings.

(R.A) narrated on the authority of Zirr (R.A) who narrated it on this authority
of Abdullah (R.A):
That the (words of ALLAH [S.W.T]): "The
heart belied not what he saw" (al Qur’an, 53.11) imply that he saw Gabriel
(P.B.U.H) and he had six hundred wings.

(R.A) narrated it on the authority of ‘Abdullah (R.A):
(That the words of ALLAH [S.W.T]):
"Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of ALLAH [S.W.T]" (al-Qur’an,
53.18) imply that he saw Gabriel (P.B.U.H) in his (original) form and he had
six hundred wings.

committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins.

He who performed ablution well, then came to Friday prayer, listened (to the
sermon), kept silence all (his sins) between that time and the next Friday
would be forgiven with three days extra, and he who touched pebbles caused an
interruption.

Sulaik Ghatafani (R.A) came on Friday when the
Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] was delivering the sermon. He (Sulaik
(R.A)) sat down. He (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said to him: O Sulaik (R.A)! Stand and
observe two rak’ahs and make them short, and then said: When any one of you
comes on Friday, while the Imam delivers the sermon, he should observe two
rak’ahs and should make them short.

you sight it (the new moon of Shawwal) break it, and if the sky is cloudy for
you, then observe fast for thirty days.

That (the Arabs of) pre-Islamic days used to
observe fast on the day of Ashura and the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
observed it and the Muslims too (observed it) before fasting in Ramadan became
obligatory. But when it became obligatory, the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] said: 'Ashura is one of the days of ALLAH [S.W.T], so he who wished
should observe fast and he who wished otherwise should abandon it.

Ibn'Abbas (R.A)
reported:
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
arrived in Medina
and found the Jews observing fast on the day of 'Ashura. The Messenger of ALLAH
[S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] said to them: What is the (significance) of this day that you
observe fast on it? They said: It is the day of great (significance) when ALLAH
[S.W.T] delivered Moses (P.B.U.H) and his people, and drowned the Pharaoh and
his people, and Moses (P.B.U.H) observed fast out of gratitude and we also
observe it. Upon this the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] said: We have
more right, and we have a closer connection with Moses (P.B.U.H) than you have;
so ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] observed fast (on the day of 'Ashura),
and gave orders that it should be observed.

Chapter 19, Book 6: Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm), Number 2524:
Ibn Abbas (R.A)
was asked about observing of fast on the day of Ashura, whereupon he said:
I do not know ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] singling out any day's fast and considering it more excellent than
another, except this day (the day of Ashura) and this month, meaning the month
of Ramadan.

Chapter 19, Book 6: Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm), Number 2528:
Ibn 'Abbas (R.A)
reported:
That when the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] fasted on the day of 'Ashura and commanded that it should he observed
as a fast, they (his companions (R.A)) said to him: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S], it is a day which the Jews and Christians hold in high esteem.
Thereupon the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] said: When the next year
comes, ALLAH willing, we would observe fast on the 9th. But the Messenger of
ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] died before the advent of the next year.

Chapter 28, Book 6: Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm), Number 2567:

(R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
Every (good) deed of the son of Adam (P.B.U.H) would be multiplied, a good deed
receiving a tenfold to seven hundredfold reward. ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and
MAJESTIC, has said: With the exception of fasting, for it is done for ME and I
will give a reward for it, for one abandons his passion and food for MY Sake.
There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts, joy when he breaks it, and
joy when he meets his LORD, and the breath (of an observer of fast) is sweeter
to ALLAH [S.W.T] than the fragrance of musk.

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
Every servant of ALLAH [S.W.T] who observes fast for a day in the way of ALLAH
[S.W.T], ALLAH [S.W.T] would remove, because of this day, his face farther from
the Fire (of Hell) to the extent of seventy years' distance.

I asked 'A'isha (R.A) about the fasting of the
Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]. She said: He used to observe fast (at
times so continuously) that we said: He has fasted (never to break), and he did
not observe fast till we said: He has given up perhaps never to fast, and I
never saw him observing (voluntary fasts) more in any other month than that of
Sha'ban. (It appeared as if) he observed fast throughout the whole of Sha'ban
except a few (days).

'A'isha (R.A)
reported:
The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] did
not observe fast in any month of the year more than in the month of Sha'ban,
and used to say: Do as many deeds as you are capable of doing, for ALLAH
[S.W.T] will not become weary (of giving you reward), but you would be tired
(of doing good deeds); and he also said: The deed liked most by ALLAH [S.W.T]
is one to which the doer adheres constantly even if it is small.

al-'Adawiyya (R.A) reported:
That she asked 'A'isha (R.A), the wife of the
Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S], whether the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] observed fasts for three days during every month. She said: Yes; I
said to her: Which were (the particular) days of the month on which he observed
fast? She said: He was not particular about the days of the month on which to
observe fast.

Abu Qatada
al-Ansari (R.A) reported:
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
was asked about his fasting. The Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] felt
annoyed. Thereupon 'Umar (R.A) said: We are pleased with ALLAH [S.W.T] as the
LORD, with Islam as our Code of Life, with Muhammad [S.A.W.S] as the Messenger
and with our pledge (to you for willing and cheerful submission) as a (sacred)
commitment. He was then asked about perpetual fasting, whereupon he said: He
neither fasted nor did he break it, or he did not fast and he did not break it.
He was then asked about fasting for two days and breaking one day. He (the Holy
Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: And who has strength enough to do it? He was asked
about fasting for a day and breaking for two days, whereupon he said: May ALLAH
[S.W.T] bestow upon us strength to do it. He was then asked about fasting for a
day and breaking on the other, whereupon he said: That is the fasting of my
brother David (P.B.U.H). He was then asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon
he said: It was the day on which I was born, on which I was commissioned with
Prophethood or Revelation was sent to me, (and he further) said: Three days'
fasting every month and of the whole of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fast.
He was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafa (9th of Dhu'I-Hijja), whereupon
he said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year. He was
asked about fasting on the day of 'Ashura (10th of Muharram), whereupon be
said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year. (Imam Muslim (R.A) said: That
in this hadith there is a) narration of Imam Shu'ba (R.A) that he was asked
about fasting on Monday and Thursday, but we (Imam Muslim (R.A)) did not
mention Thursday for we found it as an error (in reporting).

The most excellent fast after Ramadan is ALLAH [S.W.T]'s month’ al-Muharram,
and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the

‘Aisha (R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying: There is no day when ALLAH [S.W.T] sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of ‘Arafa. HE draws near, then praises them to the Angels (P.B.U.T), saying: What do these want?

displeases ME by abusing Dahr (time), whereas I am Dahr--I alternate the night
and the day.

Chapter 9, Book 32: Virtue, Good Manners And Joining Of The Ties Of
Relationship (Kitab Al-Birr Wa’S-Salat-I-Wa’L-Adab), Number 6222:

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
The gates of Paradise are not opened but on two days, Monday and Thursday. And
then every servant (of ALLAH [S.W.T]) is granted pardon who does not associate
anything with ALLAH [S.W.T] except the person in whose (heart) there is rancor
against his brother. And it would be said: Look towards both of them until
there is reconciliation; look toward both of them until there is
reconciliation; look towards both of them until there is reconciliation. This
Hadith has been narrated on the authority of Suhail (R.A) who narrated it on
the authority of his father with the chain of transmitters of MaIik (R.A), but
with this variation of wording: (Those would not be granted pardon) who boycott
each other."

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying
that ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and GLORIOUS, stretches out HIS Hand during the
night so that the people repent for the fault committed from dawn till dusk and
HE stretches out HIS Hand during the day so that the people may repent for the
fault committed from dusk to dawn. (HE would accept repentance) before the sun
rises in the west (before the Day of Resurrection).

That ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] took
hold of my hands and said: ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and GLORIOUS, created the
clay on Saturday and HE created the mountains on Sunday and HE created the
trees on Monday and HE created the things entailing labor on Tuesday and
created light on Wednesday and HE caused the animals to spread on Thursday and
created Adam (P.B.U.H) after 'Asr on Friday; the last creation at the last hour
of the hours of Friday, i.e. between afternoon and night.

That ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said:
In Paradise there is a street to which they would come every Friday. The north
wind will blow and would scatter fragrance on their faces and on their clothes
and would add to their beauty and loveliness, and then they would go back to
their family after having an added luster to their beauty and loveliness, and
their family would say to them: By ALLAH [S.W.T], you have been increased in
beauty and loveliness after leaving us, and they would say: By ALLAH [S.W.T],
you have also increased in beauty and loveliness after us.
Jami' at-Tirmidhi: Chapter 1, Book 4: The Book on the Day of Friday,
Hadith 4:
Abu Huraira
(R.A) narrated:
"ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
said: The best day that the sun has risen upon is Friday. On it Adam (P.B.U.H)
was created, on it he entered Paradise, and on it, he was sent down from it.
And in it there is an hour in which the Muslim worshipper would not stand in
Salat, asking ALLAH [S.W.T] for anything except that HE would give it to
him.'" Abu Huraira (R.A) said: "I met Abdullah bin Salam (R.A), and I
mentioned this Hadith to him. He said: 'I am more knowledgeable about that
hour.' So I said: 'Inform me about it, and do not keep any of it from me.' He
said: 'It is after al-Asr until the sun has set.' I said: 'How can it be after
Al-Asr when ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: 'the Muslim worshipper
would not stand in Salat.' And that is a time that prayer is not performed
in?" So Abdullah bin Salam (R.A) said: 'Didn't ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] say: "Whoever sat in a gathering awaiting the Salat then he is
in Salat"? I said: 'Of course.' He said: 'Then that is it.'"

reported:
The Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] saying:
When those deserving of Paradise would enter Paradise,
the BLESSED and the EXALTED would ask: Do you wish ME to give you anything
more? They would say: Hast THOU not brightened our faces? Hast THOU not made us
enter Paradise and saved us from Fire? He (the narrator) said: HE (ALLAH
[S.W.T]) would lift the Veil, and of things given to them nothing would he
dearer to them than the Sight of their LORD, the MIGHTY and the GLORIOUS.

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "(There will
be) two Paradises of silver and all the utensils and whatever is therein (will
be of silver); and two Paradises of gold, and its utensils and whatever therein
(will be of gold), and there will be nothing to prevent the people from seeing
their LORD except the Cover of Majesty over HIS Face in the Paradise of Eden
(eternal bliss)."

Abu Dharr (R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying that
ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and GLORIOUS, said: MY servants, I have made oppression
unlawful for ME and unlawful for you, so do not commit oppression against one another.
MY servants, all of you are liable to err except one whom I guide on the right path,
so seek right guidance from ME so that I should direct you to the right path. O
MY servants, all of you are hungry (needy) except one whom I feed, so beg food from
ME, so that I may give that to you. O MY servants, all of you are naked (need clothes)
except one whom I provide garments, so beg clothes from ME, so that I should clothe
you. O MY servants, you commit error night and day and I am there to pardon your
sins, so beg pardon from ME, so that I should grant you pardon. O MY servants, you
can neither do ME any harm nor can you do ME any good. O MY servants, even if the
first amongst you and the last amongst you and even the whole of human race of yours,
and that of jinns even, become (equal in) ALLAH [S.W.T] conscious like the heart
of a single person amongst you, nothing would add to MY Power. O MY servants, even
if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours
and that of the jinns too in unison become the most wicked (all beating) like the
heart of a single person, it would cause no loss to MY Power. O MY servants, even
if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours
and that of jinns also all stand in one plain ground and you ask ME and I confer
upon every person what he asks for, it would not in any way, cause any loss to ME
(even less) than that which is caused to the ocean by dipping the needle in it.
MY servants, these for you I shall reward you for then, so he who deeds of yours
which I am recording finds good should Praise ALLAH and he who does not find that
should not blame anyone but his ownself. Sa'id (R.A) said: That when Abu Idris Khaulini
(R.A) narrated this hadith he knelt upon his knees.

ALLAH [S.W.T] on the roads and paths. And when they find some people celebrating
the Praises of ALLAH [S.W.T], they call each other, saying, "Come to the object
of your pursuit.'" He added, "Then the Angels (P.B.U.T) encircle them
with their wings up to the sky of the world." He added. "(after those
people celebrated the Praises of ALLAH [S.W.T], and the Angels (P.B.U.T) go back),
their LORD, asks them (those Angels (P.B.U.T)) - though HE knows better than them----'What
do MY slaves say?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) reply, 'they say: Subhan ALLAH, ALLAHU Akbar,
and Alham-du-lillah, ALLAH [S.W.T] then says 'Did they see ME?' The Angels (P.B.U.T)
reply, 'No! By ALLAH [S.W.T], they didn't see YOU.' ALLAH [S.W.T] says, How it would
have been if they saw ME?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) reply, 'If they saw YOU, they would
Worship YOU more devoutly and celebrate YOUR Glory more deeply, and declare YOUR
freedom from any resemblance to anything more often.' ALLAH [S.W.T] says (to the
Angels (P.B.U.T)), 'What do they ask ME for?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) reply, 'They
ask YOU for Paradise.' ALLAH [S.W.T] says (to the
Angels (P.B.U.T)), 'Did they see it?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) say, 'No! By ALLAH [S.W.T],
O LORD! They did not see it.' ALLAH [S.W.T] says, How it would have been if they
saw it?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) say, 'If they saw it, they would have greater covetousness
for it and would seek it with greater zeal and would have greater desire for it.'
ALLAH [S.W.T] says, 'From what do they seek refuge?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) reply,
'They seek refuge from the (Hell) Fire.' ALLAH [S.W.T] says, 'Did they see it?'
The Angels (P.B.U.T) say, 'No! By ALLAH [S.W.T], O LORD! They did not see it.' ALLAH
[S.W.T] says, How it would have been if they saw it?' The Angels (P.B.U.T) say,
'If they saw it they would flee from it with the extreme fleeing and would have
extreme fear from it.' Then ALLAH [S.W.T] says, 'I make you witnesses that I have
Forgiven them."' ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] added, "One of the
Angels (P.B.U.T) would say, 'There was so-and-so amongst them, and he was not one
of them, but he had just come for some need.' ALLAH [S.W.T] would say, 'These are
those people whose companions will not be reduced to misery.'"

Volume 8, Book 76: To Make the Heart Tender (Ar-Riqaq), Number 498:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] narrating about his LORD
and said, "ALLAH [S.W.T] ordered (the appointed Angels (P.B.U.T) over you)
that the good and the bad deeds be written, and HE then showed (the way) how (to
write). If somebody intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then ALLAH
[S.W.T] will write for him a full good deed (in his account with HIM); and if he
intends to do a good deed and actually did it, then ALLAH [S.W.T] will write for
him (in his account with HIM) (its reward equal) from ten to seven hundred times
to many more times: and if somebody intended to do a bad deed and he does not do
it, then ALLAH [S.W.T] will write a full good deed (in his account with HIM), and
if he intended to do it (a bad deed) and actually did it, then ALLAH [S.W.T] will
write one bad deed (in his account)."

Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, "ALLAH
[S.W.T] said, 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshiper
of MINE. And the most beloved things with which MY slave comes nearer to ME, is
what I have enjoined upon him; and MY slave keeps on coming closer to ME through
performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till
I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense
of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with
which he walks; and if he asks ME, I will give him, and if he asks MY Protection
(Refuge), I will Protect him; (i.e. give him MY Refuge) and I do not hesitate to
do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death,
and I hate to disappoint him."

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "ALLAH [S.W.T]
says: 'I am just as MY slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am able to do for him what he
thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if he remembers ME. If he remembers ME
in himself, I too, remember him in MYSELF; and if he remembers ME in a group of
people, I remember him in a group that is better than they; and if he comes one
span nearer to ME, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer
to ME, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to
ME walking, I go to him running.'"

Volume 9, Book 93: Oneness, Uniqueness of ALLAH [S.W.T] (Tawheed), Number 624:
Narrated Ibn 'Umar
(R.A):
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, "Your
stay (in this world) in comparison to the stay of the nations preceding you, is
like the period between 'Asr prayer and the sun set (in comparison to a whole day).
The people of the Torah were given the Torah and they acted on it till midday and
then they were unable to carry on. And they were given (a reward equal to) one Qirat
each. Then the people of the Gospel were given the Gospel and they acted on it till
'Asr Prayer and then they were unable to carry on, so they were given a reward equal
to) one Qirat each. Then you were given the Qur'an and you acted on it till sunset,
therefore you were given (a reward equal to) two Qirats each. On that, the people
of the Scriptures said, 'These people (Muslims) did less work than we but they took
a bigger reward.' ALLAH [S.W.T] said (to them). 'Have I done any oppression to you
as regards your rights?' They said, "No." Then ALLAH [S.W.T] said, 'That
is MY Blessing which I grant to whomsoever I Will.'"

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Whoever
possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith:
1. The one to
whom ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S) become dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a
person and he loves him Only for ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Sake.
3. Who hates to
revert to disbelief (atheism) after ALLAH [S.W.T] has brought (saved) him out
from it, as he hates to be thrown in Fire."

observed: You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in
all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as
long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which,
if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i.e.) give currency to (the practice
of paying salutation to one another by saying: as-salamu alaikum.

Suhaib (R.A) reported:
That ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said:
Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and
this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he
has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (ALLAH [S.W.T]), thus there is a good
for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it
patiently), there is a good for him in it.

Sa'id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira (R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "No fatigue,
nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim,
even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that ALLAH [S.W.T]
expiates some of his sins for that."

is based on (the following) five (principles):
1. To testify

[S.A.W.S] is ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle.
2. To offer the
(compulsory congregational) Prayers dutifully and perfectly.
3. To pay Zakat
(i.e. obligatory charity).
4. To perform
Hajj (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca).
5. To observe
Fast during the month of Ramadan.

Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
One day while the Prophet [S.A.W.S] was sitting
in the company of some people, (The Angel) Gabriel (P.B.U.H) came and asked, "What
is faith?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] replied, 'Faith is to believe
in ALLAH [S.W.T], HIS Angels (P.B.U.T), (the) meeting with HIM, HIS Apostles (P.B.U.T),
and to believe in Resurrection." Then he further asked, "What is Islam?"
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] replied, "To Worship ALLAH [S.W.T] Alone
and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat)
and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What
is Ihsan (perfection)?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] replied, "To
Worship ALLAH [S.W.T] as if you see HIM, and if you cannot achieve this state of
devotion then you must consider that HE is looking at you." Then he further
asked, "When will the Hour be established?" ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]
replied, "The answerer has no better knowledge than the questioner. But I will
inform you about its portents.
1. When a slave (lady)
gives birth to her master.
2. When the shepherds
of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the construction of
higher buildings. And the Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except ALLAH
[S.W.T]. The Prophet [S.A.W.S] then recited: "Verily, with ALLAH (Alone) is
the Knowledge of the Hour--." (31.34) Then that man (Gabriel (P.B.U.H)) left
and the Prophet [S.A.W.S] asked his companions (R.A) to call him back, but they
could not see him. Then the Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "That was Gabriel (P.B.U.H)
who came to teach the people their religion." Abu 'Abdullah (R.A) said: He
(the Prophet [S.A.W.S]) considered all that as a part of faith.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 4, Book 2: Purification (Kitab Al-Taharah), Number 0451:
'Uqba b. 'Amir (R.A)
reported:
We were entrusted with the task of tending the
camels. On my turn when I came back in the evening after grazing them in the pastures,
I found ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Messenger [S.A.W.S] stand and address the people. I heard
these words of his: If any Muslim performs ablution well, then stands and prays
two rak'ahs setting about them with his heart as well as his face, Paradise would be guaranteed to him. I said: What a fine thing
is this! And a narrator who was before me said: The first was better than even this.
When I cast a glance, I saw that it was 'Umar (R.A) who said: I see that you have
just come and observed: If anyone amongst you performs the ablution, and then completes
the ablution well and then says: I testify that there is no god but ALLAH and that
Muhammad [S.A.W.S] is the servant of ALLAH and HIS Messenger, the eight gates of
Paradise would be opened for him and he may enter by whichever of them he wishes.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 131, Book 4: Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat), Number 1756:
‘Uqba b. ‘Amir (R.A)
reported:
When we were in Suffa, the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S] came out and said: Which of you would like to go out every morning to
Buthan or al-’Aqiq and bring two large she camels without being guilty of sin or
without severing the ties of kinship? We said: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S],
we would like to do it. Upon this he said: Does not one of you go out in the morning
to the Mosque and teach or recite two verses from the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T], the
MAJESTIC and GLORIOUS? That is better for him than two she camels, and three verses
are better (than three she camels), and four verses are better for him than four
(she camels), and to on their number in camels.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 132, Book 4: Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat), Number 1757:
Abu Umama (R.A) said
he heard:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] say: Recite
the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those
who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, Surah al-Baqara and Surah Al ‘Imran,
for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two
flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqara,
for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief,
and the magicians cannot confront it. (Mu’awiya (R.A) said: It has been conveyed
to me that here Batala means magicians.)
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 133, Book 4: Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat), Number 1760:
Ibn ‘Abbas (R.A)
reported:
That while Gabriel (P.B.U.H) was sitting with the
Apostle [S.A.W.S] he heard a creaking sound above him. He lifted his head and said:
This as a gate opened in heaven today which had never been opened before. Then when
an Angel (P.B.U.H) descended through it, he said: This is an Angel (P.B.U.H) who
came down to the earth who had never come down before. He greeted and said: Rejoice
in two lights given to you which have not been given to any Prophet (P.B.U.T) before
you: Falihat al-Kitab (1.1-7) and the concluding verses of Suarah al-Baqara (2.286).
You will never recite a letter from them for which you will not be given (a reward).
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 134, Book 4: Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat), Number 1768:
Ubayy b. Ka’b (R.A)
said:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] said: O
Abu’l-Mundhir (R.A), do you know the verse from the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T] which,
according to you, is the greatest? I said: ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S]
know best. He again said: Abu’l-Mundhir (R.A), do you know the verse from the Book
of ALLAH [S.W.T] which, according to you, is the greatest? I said: "ALLAH,
there is no god but HE, the LIVING, the ETERNAL." (Ayat Al-Kursi (2.255)) Thereupon
he struck me on my breast and said: May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu’l-Mundhir
(R.A)!

Narrated Abu
Said Al-Mualla (R.A):
While I was praying, the Prophet [S.A.W.S]
passed by and called me, but I did not go to him till I had finished my prayer.
When I went to him, he said, "What prevented you from coming?" I
said, "I was praying." He said, "Didn't ALLAH [S.W.T]
said":- "O you who believe, give your response to ALLAH (by obeying
HIM) and to HIS Apostle." (8.24) Then he added, "Shall I tell you the
most superior Sura in the Qur'an before I go out of the Mosque?" When the
Prophet [S.A.W.S] intended to go out (of the Mosque), I reminded him and he
said, "That is: "Alhamdu-lillahi Rabbil-'Alamin
(Surat-al-Fatiha)" which is the seven oft repeated verses (Al-Mathani) and
the Grand Qur’an which has been given to me."

ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said,
"The Um (substance) of the Qur’an is the seven oft-repeated verses
(Al-Mathaini) and is the Great Qur’an (i.e. Surat-al-Fatiha)."

A man heard another man reciting (in the prayers):
'Say (O Muhammad): "HE is ALLAH, the ONE." (112.1) And he recited it repeatedly.
When it was morning, he went to the Prophet [S.A.W.S] and informed him about that
as if he considered that the recitation of that Surah by itself was not enough.
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] said, "By HIM in WHOSE Hand my life is, it
is equal to one-third of the Qur’an."
Sahih Bukhari:
Volume 9, Book 93: Oneness, Uniqueness of ALLAH [S.W.T] (Tawheed), Number 472:
Narrated 'Aisha
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] sent (an army unit)
under the command of a man who used to lead his companions in the prayers and
would finish his recitation with (the Surah 112): 'Say (O Muhammad): "HE
is ALLAH, the ONE."' (112.1) When they returned (from the battle), they
mentioned that to the Prophet [S.A.W.S]. He said (to them), "Ask him why
he does so." They asked him and he said, "I do so because it mentions
the Qualities of the BENEFICENT and I love to recite it (in my prayer)."
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said (to them), "Tell him that ALLAH [S.W.T] loves
him."
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 17, Book 40: Pertaining To Paradise, Its
Description, Its Bounties And Its Intimates (Kitab Al-Jannat Wa Sifat Na'Imiha Wa
Ahliha), Number 6865:
Al-Bara' b. 'Azib
(R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] as saying: This
verse: "ALLAH grants steadfastness to those who believe with firm word,"
was revealed in connection with the torment of the grave. It would be said to him:
Who is your LORD? And he would say: ALLAH is my LORD and Muhammad [S.A.W.S] is my
Apostle, and that is (what is implied) by the words of ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED:
"ALLAH keeps steadfast those who believe with firm word in this world and in
the Hereafter." (14.27)
[Sunan Abi Dawud:
Chapter 454, Book 5: Voluntary Prayers, Hadith 48 & Jami' at-Tirmidhi: Chapter
19, Book 3: The Book on Al-Witr, Hadith 31]:
Our Beloved Prophet [S.A.W.S] said to his uncle
Abbas (R.A): Oh uncle shall I not give you! Shall I not grant you! Shall I not award
you! Shall I not do mercy on you! When you do ten things ALLAH [S.W.T] will forgive
your sins: of the future and of the past; new and old; those you have forgotten
and those you did knowingly; big and small; hidden and revealed. Then Prophet [S.A.W.S]
explained the taught the way to pray Salatul Tasbih and then said if you can pray
this salah once a day, if you can not pray once a day then every Friday, and even
if this is not possible then once a month and even if this is not possible then
once a year and even if this is not possible then at least once in a lifetime.
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 38, Book 4: Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat), Number 0990:
Rabi’a b. Ka’b (R.A)
said:
I was with ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S]
one night. And I brought him water and what he required. He said to me: Ask (anything
you like). I said: I ask your company in Paradise.
He (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Or anything else besides it. I said: That
is all (what I require). He said: Then help me to achieve this for you by devoting
yourself often to prostration.
Sahih Bukhari:
Volume 1, Book 12: Characteristics of Prayer, Number 804:
Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
Some poor people came to the Prophet [S.A.W.S]
and said, "The wealthy people will get higher grades and will have permanent
enjoyment and they pray like us and fast as we do. They have more money by which
they perform the Hajj, and 'Umra; fight and struggle in ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Cause and
give in charity." The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Shall I not tell you a
thing upon which if you acted you would catch up with those who have surpassed you?
Nobody would overtake you and you would be better than the people amongst whom you
live except those who would do the same. Say, "Subhan-ALLAH", "Alhamdu-lillah"
and "ALLAHU Akbar" thirty three times each after every (compulsory) prayer."
We differed and some of us said that we should say, "Subhan-ALLAH" thirty
three times and "Alhamdu lillah" thirty three times and "ALLAHU Akbar"
thirty four times. I went to the Prophet [S.A.W.S] who said, "Say, "Subhan-ALLAH"
and "Alhamdu-lillah" and "ALLAHU Akbar" all together for thirty
three times."

Volume 8, Book 75: Invocations, Number 330:
Narrated 'Ali (R.A):
Fatima (R.A) complained about the blisters on her
hand because of using a mill-stone. She went to ask the Prophet [S.A.W.S] for servant,
but she did not find him (at home) and had to inform 'Aisha (R.A) of her need. When
he came, 'Aisha (R.A) informed him about it. Ali (R.A) added: The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
came to us when we had gone to our beds. When I was going to get up, he said, "'Stay
in your places," and sat between us, till I felt the coolness of the feet on
my chest. The Prophet [S.A.W.S] then said, "Shall I not tell you of a thing
which is better for you than a servant? When you (both) go to your beds, say 'ALLAHU
Akbar' thirty-four times, and 'Subhan ALLAH' thirty-three times, 'Alhamdu 'illah'
thirty-three times, for that is better for you than a servant." Ibn Sirin (R.A)
said, "Subhan ALLAH' (is to be said for) thirty-four times."

is half of faith and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to ALLAH) fills the scale, and Subhan
ALLAH (Glory be to ALLAH) and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to ALLAH) fill up what
is between the heavens and the earth, and Prayer is a light, and Charity is proof
(of one's faith) and Endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on
your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves,
thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.

Chapter 16, Book 5: Zakat (Kitab Al-Zakat), Number 2198:
Abu Dharr (R.A) reported:
Some of the people from among the Companions (R.A)
of the Apostle of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] said to him: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T]
[S.A.W.S], the rich have taken away (air the) reward. They observe prayer as we
do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give sadaqa out of their surplus riches.
Upon this he (the Holy Prophet [S.A.W.S]) said: Has ALLAH [S.W.T] not prescribed
for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do sadaqa? In every declaration
of the Glorification of ALLAH [S.W.T] (i.e. saying Subhan ALLAH) there is a sadaqa,
and every Takbir (i.e. saying ALLAHU Akbar) is a sadaqa, and every Praise of HIS
(saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a sadaqa and every declaration that HE is ONE (La illha
ill-ALLAH) is a sadaqa, and enjoining of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that
which is evil is a sadaqa, and in man's sexual intercourse (with his wife,) there
is a sadaqa. They (the Companions (R.A)) said: Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S],
is there reward for him who satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell
me, if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his
part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward.

'Aisha (R.A) reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
Every one of the children of Adam (P.B.U.H) has been created with three hundred
and sixty joints; so he who declares the Glory of ALLAH [S.W.T], Praises ALLAH [S.W.T],
declares ALLAH [S.W.T] to be ONE, Glorifies ALLAH [S.W.T], and seeks Forgiveness
from ALLAH [S.W.T], and removes stone, or thorn, or bone from people's path, and
enjoins what is good and forbids from evil, to the number of those three hundred
and sixty-four, will walk that day having removed himself from Hell.

wa huwa 'ala kulli shai'in qadir," one hundred times will get the same reward
as given for manumitting ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written
in his accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his accounts, and it
(his saying) will be a shield for him from satan on that day till night, and nobody
will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more than he."

reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
He who uttered these words: "There is no god but ALLAH, the ONE, having no
partner with HIM. Sovereignty belongs to HIM and all the Praise is due to HIM, and
HE is POTENT over everything" one hundred times every day there is a reward
of emancipating ten slaves for him, and there are recorded hundred virtues to his
credit, and hundred vices are blotted out from his scroll, and that is a safeguard
for him against the satan on that day till evening and no one brings anything more
excellent than this, except one who has done more than this (who utters these words
more than one hundred times and does more good acts) and he who utters: "Hallowed
be ALLAH and all Praise is due to HIM," one hundred times a day, his sins are
obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the ocean.

to us and said, "O people! Don't exert yourselves, for you do not call a deaf
or an absent one, but you call the ALL-LISTENER, the ALL-SEER." The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] then said, "O 'Abdullah bin Qais (R.A)! Shall I teach you a sentence
which is from the treasures of Paradise? (It is):
'La haula wala quwata illa billah. (There is neither might nor power except with
ALLAH)."

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "A slave (of ALLAH

and because of that ALLAH [S.W.T] will raise him to degrees (of reward); a slave
(of ALLAH [S.W.T]) may utter a word (carelessly) which displeases ALLAH [S.W.T]
without thinking of its gravity and because of that he will be thrown into the Hell-Fire."

My LORD! Lo! They have led many of mankind astray:" But whoso followeth me,
he verily is of me" (al-Qur'an, 14.36) and Jesus (P.B.U.H) said:" If THOU
punisheth them, Lo! They are THY slaves, and if THOU forgiveth them-verily THOU
art the MIGHTY, the WISE" (al-Qur'an, 5.118). Then he raised his hands and
said: O LORD, my Ummah, my Ummah, and wept; so ALLAH [S.W.T] the HIGH and the EXALTED
said: O Gabriel (P.B.U.H), go to Muhammad [S.A.W.S] (Though your LORD knows it fully
well) and ask him: What makes thee weep? So Gabriel (P.B.U.H) came to him and asked
him, and the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] informed him what he had said
(Though ALLAH [S.W.T] knew it fully well). Upon this ALLAH [S.W.T] said: O Gabriel
(P.B.U.H), go to Muhammad [S.A.W.S] and say: Verily WE will please thee with regard
to your Ummah and would not displease thee.

2. A slave who discharges
his duties to ALLAH [S.W.T] and his master.

woman-slave who teaches her good manners and educates her in the best possible way
(the religion) and manumits her and then marries her."

number of people) as I have been testified. And verily there would be an Apostle
(P.B.U.H) among the Apostles (P.B.U.T) who would be testified to by only one man
from his people.

said, "You will be with those whom you love." We had never been so glad
as we were on hearing that saying of the Prophet [S.A.W.S] (i.e. "You will
be with those whom you love.") Therefore, I love the Prophet [S.A.W.S], Abu
Bakr and 'Umar (R.A), and I hope that I will be with them because of my love for
them though my deeds are not similar to theirs.

of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection
will be the one who said, 'None has the right to be Worshiped but ALLAH,' sincerely
from the bottom of his heart."

live to old age and they do not cause him to be granted admittance to Paradise."

'At-tahiyyatu lil-lahi was-salawatu wat-taiyibatu. Assalamu 'Alaika aiyuha-n-Nabiyu
wa-rahmatu-l-lahi wa-barakatuhu. Assalamu alaina wa-'ala 'ibadi-l-lahi as-salihin. Ashhadu an
la ilaha illa-l-lah wa ashhadu anna Muhammad an 'abdu hu wa Rasuluh. (All the Compliments
are for ALLAH and all the Prayers and all the Good things (are for ALLAH). Peace
be on you, O Prophet, and ALLAH's Mercy and Blessings (are on you). And Peace be
on us and on the good (pious) worshipers of ALLAH. I testify that none has the right
to be Worshiped but ALLAH and that Muhammad is HIS slave and Apostle.) So, when
you have said this, then you have surely sent the greetings to every good (pious)
worshiper of ALLAH [S.W.T], whether he be in the Heaven or on the Earth."

Ka'b bin Ujrah (R.A) met me and said, "Shall

[S.A.W.S] saying, 'O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! How should one (ask ALLAH
[S.W.T] to) send blessings on you, the members of the family, for ALLAH [S.W.T]
has taught us how to salute you (in the prayer)?' He said, 'Say: O ALLAH! Send YOUR
Mercy on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad, as YOU sent YOUR Mercy on Abraham
and on the family of Abraham, for YOU are the MOST PRAISEWORTHY, the MOST GLORIOUS.
O ALLAH! Send YOUR Blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as YOU sent
YOUR Blessings on Abraham and on the family of Abraham, for YOU are the MOST PRAISEWORTHY,
the MOST GLORIOUS.'"

mother." The man said. "Who is next?" The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said,
"Your mother." The man further said, "Who is next?" The Prophet
[S.A.W.S] said, "Your mother." The man asked for the fourth time, "Who
is next?" The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Your father."

Narrated Ibn Abbas
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "No good deeds
done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja)."
Then some companions (R.A) of the Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Not even Jihad?"
He replied, "Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself
and his property in danger (for ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Sake) and does not return with any
of those things."

Chapter 28, Book 6: Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm), Number 2566:

reported:
ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger [S.A.W.S] as saying:
ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and MAJESTIC said: Every act of the son of Adam (P.B.U.H)
is for him, except fasting. It is (exclusively) meant for ME and I (Alone) will
reward it. Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting on a day, he should
neither indulge in obscene language, nor raise the voice; or if anyone reviles him
or tries to quarrel with him he should say: I am a person fasting. By HIM, in WHOSE
Hand is the life of Muhammad [S.A.W.S], the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter
to ALLAH [S.W.T] on the Day of Judgment than the fragrance of musk. The one who
fasts has two (occasions) of joy, one when he breaks the fast he is glad with the
breaking of (the fast) and one when he meets his LORD he is glad with his fast.

I was in the company of ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Messenger
[S.A.W.S] that he gave a description of Paradise
and then ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S] concluded with these words: There would
be bounties which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard and no human heart
has ever perceived them. He then recited this verse: "They forsake (their)
beds, calling upon their LORD in fear and in hope, and spend out of what WE have
given them. So no soul knows what refreshment of the eyes is hidden for them; a
reward for what they did" (32.16-17)

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Religion is very
easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue
in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and
receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by
Worshiping in the mornings, the nights."

as saying: Avoid that which I forbid you to do and do that which I command you to
do to the best of your capacity. Verily the people before you went to their doom
because they had put too many questions to their Prophets (P.B.U.T) and then disagreed
with their teachings.

The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Avoid the seven
great destructive sins." The people enquire, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle
[S.A.W.S]! What are they? "He said, "To join others in Worship along with
ALLAH [S.W.T], to practice sorcery, to kill the life which ALLAH [S.W.T] has forbidden
except for a just cause (according to Islamic law), to eat up Riba (usury), to eat
up an orphan's wealth, to give back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield
at the time of fighting, and to accuse chaste women, who never even think of anything
touching chastity and are good believers.

Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "ALLAH [S.W.T]
will give shade, to seven, on the Day when there will be no shade but HIS. (These
seven persons are) a just ruler, a youth who has been brought up in the Worship
of ALLAH [S.W.T] (i.e. Worships ALLAH [S.W.T] sincerely from childhood), a man whose
heart is attached to the Mosques (i.e. to pray the compulsory prayers in the Mosque
in congregation), two persons who love each other Only for ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Sake
and they meet and part in ALLAH [S.W.T]'s Cause Only, a man who refuses the call
of a charming woman of noble birth for illicit intercourse with her and says: I
am afraid of ALLAH [S.W.T], a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his
left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much
he has given in charity), and a person who remembers ALLAH [S.W.T] in seclusion
and his eyes are then flooded with tears."

Volume 4, Book 52: Fighting for the Cause of ALLAH [S.W.T], Number 65:
Narrated Abu Musa
(R.A):
A man came to the Prophet [S.A.W.S] and asked,
"A man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for
showing off; which of them fights in ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Cause?" The Prophet [S.A.W.S]
said, "He who fights that ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Word (i.e. Islam) should be Superior, fights in ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Cause."
Sahih Muslim:
Chapter 34, Book 20: On Government (Kitab Al-Imara), Number 4655:
It has been
narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S]
said: Of the men he lives the best life who holds the reins of his horse (ever
ready to march) in the way of ALLAH [S.W.T], flies on its back whenever he
hears a fearful shriek, or a call for help, flies to it seeking death at places
where it can be expected. (Next to him) is a man who lives with his sheep at a
hill-top or in a valley, says his prayers regularly, gives Zakat and Worships
his LORD until death comes to him.
Sahih Bukhari:
Volume 4, Book 52: Fighting for the Cause of ALLAH [S.W.T] (Jihaad), Number 48:
Narrated Abu Huraira
(R.A):
The Prophet [S.A.W.S] said, "Whoever believes
in ALLAH [S.W.T] and HIS Apostle [S.A.W.S], offer prayer perfectly and fasts the
month of Ramadan, will rightfully be granted Paradise by ALLAH [S.W.T], no matter
whether he fights in ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Cause or remains in the land where he is born."
The people said, "O ALLAH [S.W.T]’s Apostle [S.A.W.S]! Shall we acquaint the
people with this good news?" He said, "Paradise has one-hundred grades
which ALLAH [S.W.T] has reserved for the Mujahidin who fight in HIS Cause, and the
distance between each of two grades is like the distance between the Heaven and
the Earth. So, when you ask ALLAH [S.W.T] (for something), ask for Al-Firdaus which
is the best and highest part of Paradise." (i.e. the sub-narrator added, "I
think the Prophet [S.A.W.S] also said, 'Above it (i.e. Al-Firdaus) is the Throne
of BENEFICENT (i.e. ALLAH [S.W.T]), and from it originate the rivers of Paradise.")
Sahih Muslim: Chapter 83, Book 1: Faith (Kitab Al Iman), Number 0363:
It is reported on
the authority of al-Mughira b. Shu’ba (R.A):
That the Messenger of ALLAH [S.W.T] [S.A.W.S] said:
Moses (P.B.U.H) asked his LORD: Who amongst the inhabitants of Paradise is the lowest to rank? HE (ALLAH [S.W.T]) said: The
person who would be admitted into Paradise last of all among those deserving of
Paradise who are admitted to it. I would be said
to him: Enter Paradise. He would say: O my LORD! How (should I enter) while the
people have settled in their apartments and taken the shares (portions)? It would
be said to him: Would you be pleased if there be for you like the kingdom of a king
amongst the kings of the world? He would say: I am pleased my LORD. HE (ALLAH [S.W.T])
would say: For you is that, and like that, and like that, and like that, and that.
He would say at the fifth (point): I am well pleased, my LORD. HE (ALLAH [S.W.T])
would say: It is for you and ten times like it, and for you is what your self desires
and your eye enjoys. He would say: I am well pleased, my LORD. He (Moses (P.B.U.H))
said: (Which is) the highest of their (inhabitants of Paradise) ranks? HE (ALLAH
[S.W.T]) said: They are those Whom I choose. I establish their Honor with MY OWN
Hand and then set a seal over it (and they would be Blessed with Bounties) which
no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind has perceived: and this is substantiated
by the Book of ALLAH [S.W.T], the EXALTED and GREAT: "So no soul knows what
delight of the eye is hidden for them; a reward for what they did" (32.17).
